Thank you, Craig! Since I spend most my time in the northern parts of Sweden I can't really justify buying myself a high-end Panama. We simply don't have enough warm days for a hat like that. Therefore I'm quite happy with a cheeper Cuenca that WILL fold. :)
I'm really looking forward to the...
Had I been staying in Egypt for more then a week, I'd might consider bringing a Pith helmet myself. As it stands now... 1 hat maximum.... I think... maybe... nah...

Thank you KC! I agree on traveling light and I don't want to look like a rich tourist of any nationality. It looks like I'll be bringing an Akubra beater to the party - Maybe a rolled up straw in a whisky tube just to have an option.
Have a great trip to Bali! That's one of the places I plan...
Thanks Jake_Fink! I wish I had a felt hat like the one you describe. I wore a unlined "Lite Felt" (wool?) on a trip to Venezuela and it was sweaty and itchy.

Dang it Tamas, you are supposed to be supporting a fellow Lounger if he's trying to find minimal excuses to order another hat! :D
Pith helmets are cool, but getting one just for this trip is not an option for me. :(

Another vote for the felt. Man, I should have made this topic into a poll. :)
Thanks for sharing that photo, Havana. Love your "travel style"! :eusa_clap Since I don't have any hat with neck- or chin-strap... do you have any suggestions?

Another tip worth gold. :eusa_clap Thank you very much, GwenLake! I guess a pinned had would look silly on me so I have to find another solution. :D OTOH, straw-hats are not as wind sensitive as felt ones.

Thank you Mineral! Checking my travel guide I saw that Luxor in April had an average of 91,5F/33C! Straw seem to be the way to go there.
Thanks also for the tip about Dashur. We have a couple of days on our itinerary that we haven't filled yet.

Thanks Indycop! This makes me want to start a discussion on the topic "Felt vs Damp Heat/Dry Heat". I live in a country where temperatures are very moderate compared to places like Florida. So I can't really imagine what it would be like wearing a felt hat in 80F for extended periods.

Ahh...! Good advice there, Mike! And I'll try to leave my paintbrushes at home... however tempting it may be to do some pyramide grafitti. :)
Cheers
