I like to watch an old movie, too. His Girl Friday usually cheers me up. Or Charade. I also like to paint my nails and eat chocolate to cheer myself up. I'm a walking stereotype. lol Sometimes a few minutes of exercise - skipping or aerobics or something can be distracting., too, and pep me up...
I think the earliest thing that made me fall in love with vintage was watching Fred Astaire movies when I was a small child. Later it was listening to Dean Martin, watching Audrey in Roman Holiday and so on. It was films and music that hooked me. It was only this year that I started to buy...
Well, I'm in the wrong area of the world for Thanksgiving, but I've just finished my undergraduate thesis and have discovered that there's a whole world away from my desk, so I plan to get up from my chair and do a bit of exercise. I'm starting with the housework. :p Then I'll move on to...
Helen, I've seen that site you posted before, but I never stop being amazed that one of the "improvements" that they felt it was necessary to make on the pictures of Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria and Katherine Heigl (who are all stunning in the before shots) was seemingly to remove their rib...
I've heard of wedding suits before, and it's a great idea! I love the idea that the outfit can be used again, and not go to waste. The idea of a special dress that is only used for the wedding dress doesn't really appeal to me. [huh] My grandmother was married in a fairly simple wedding dress -...
About garter straps showing through, I find that my thicker woollen winter skirts don't really show them at all. Probably a combination of the weight of the fabric, the slightly knobbly texture and in some cases the pattern woven into the fabric. [huh]
Yes, I'm a classics major. I'm thinking of graduate school but for the next three weeks I'm trying to think more about handing in my undergraduate work. ;)
On a whim, I just bought a miniature of L'Air du Temps, and while the scent itself doesn't really strike me, the tiny bottle is gorgeous and looks great on my dressing table.
Classics addiction
lol What a great thread. I have almost finished my undergraduate degree and it's just so lovely to find a discussion like this to remind me why I love it. I like to lurk around antiquarian bookshops buying up old prose composition manuals and the matching keys. :o
Ooh, I'm planning to get Benefit's Babecakes. I bought the liner brush a few years ago to use with eyeshadow, and now that the brown and black colours come in the same packaging it really seems worth it.
Ouch! I have just bitten mine right down too (awful, I know, and unhygienic) and all I can suggest is to just tough it out. Creams and things always seem to come off my fingers before they can work.
Congratulations lyburnum! You look absolutely stunning in that dress. The bolero is cute but the line of the dress is so gorgeous with the coloured bow contrast that personally I wouldn't want to cover it up at all.
If anyone is interested, a full list of lipsticks tested and the results can be found here.
