I think I've found my perfect dramatic evening red - L'oreal Garnet Creme.
The Lipstick Queen range is by an Australian called Poppy King. She had a lipstick brand years ago called Poppy, with a focus on red and a few different textures available: matte, cream, metallic etc. I still have a...
There are some breathtaking gifts in this thread. Zaika, that table runner is especially lovely.
My vintage-y Christmas presents were: a two edition new set of The Commonsense Cookery Book (as compiled by the New South Wales Cookery Teachers' Association) and a 2008 diary of vintage wine...
Disclaimer: I am no expert! I am merely sharing my hair dye experience in the hopes it might prove instructive in some way.
When I made a terrible mistake with black dye on my brown hair (with reddish undertones), I initially got very fine (matchstick-or-smaller width) highlights put through...
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, MegamiOrchard, but I just borrowed a recently published book from my local library. The title is It's Vintage, Darling!: how to be a clothes connoisseur, by Christa Weil. It's quite interesting for me, as a newcomer to vintage, because it talks...

Simple, practical and comfortable everyday clothing would be great. Clothing that is appropriate to wear to the office or out shopping.
Oooh, thanks for telling your beauty secrets. ;) I'll definitely have to stop by a stationery shop as soon as my nails grow back. The french tip stickers don't even seem to work for my french tips, let alone half moons.
A few years ago I got a Mason Pearson brush as a gift (which is lucky, because I would never be able to afford one myself!). It...is...heaven. My hair has been in much better condition since, and even my scalp feels like it's healthier. [huh]
I have never ordered from Besame, but I'm signed up to the mailing list. According to the email I received today there's a free shipping offer for international orders over US $65, and it's on until 7th December. I'm thinking of buying a few things...
I love cardigans and wear them with pencil skirts, circle skirts, pleated skirts, jeans, trousers, over the top of dresses... I would love to buy some of the beautiful beaded vintage cardigans I've seen, but I haven't found any that fit yet. I do have a beautiful sherbert-orange coloured modern...
My absolute bulletproof remedy: Chinese takeaway and a new pair of shoes, preferably impractical sparkly heels. This is a rare one, though, and has to be used at times when I can afford it. ;) I think this time I'll put on some Peggy Lee and drink a cup of coffee with some dark chocolate instead.
I haven't had occasion to try it myself either, but I wouldn't recommend using anything more exotic than yoghurt if at all possible! I've heard of garlic being quite uncomfortable to use.
