Fix it Shop
Don't know if anyone has mentioned it but this town will need a fix it shop for all the small appliances, lamps, etc that break. Haven't found a thing I'm not able to fix yet. So I can run a fix it shop......
I use a 1960 Gillette Super Speed, C.O. Bigelow cream, and a boar hair brush. Great shave. I no longer get the razor rash that I used to get using the multi blade and electric razors.
Phil,
I'm fairly new around here but I think that hat looks great on you like it is.
Now, if I were in your place, I would send it back to the hatter. With that nice of a custom hat I'd be terrified I'd mess it up.
Best wishes,
Bill
I've not had my hat very long but I used Camp Dry on it in an effort to promote water repelling. If you do try the Camp Dry route, I tried it on a hidden area of the hat to make sure it wouldn't change the color or make it look blotchy. On my hat it didn't change the color much, if any, so I...
I've been wearing my hat for a couple of days now. People who are not accustom to seeing me in a hat just seem to eye it but never say anything. lol
I'm unable to post a photo of it as, believe it or not, I'm digitally deprived.
I did give the hat a couple coats of Camp Dry just in case...
I looked online as well when I first found out the one here carries them. They didn't have any in my size at that time. I didn't find them online either but they had 2 racks of them at the store.
The one I bought was the last one they had in my size. I wouldn't have minded getting a black...
Yesterday while browsing through Dillards I saw that they had their Fedoras marked nearly half off. So I picked up my first fedora. Not a top of the line but I liked it. Its a coffee colored Stetson Raider. The even better part is I still have enough money in my "hat budget" to purchase the...
I picked up a white Adams today at BCF. I liked it ok and couldn't pass it up for the price. Says its fur felt. I don't have anyway of posting a picture of it or I would. I know this is probably cliche', but is it ok to wear a white hat in the winter or should I keep it until spring and summer...
Thanks to all who posted. The way things are today I didn't want to spend money with a place that is difficult to deal with. So far it sounds like they are probably a decent place to deal with.
I'd really like to be able to go into a store to purchase a hat, but, I've been to all that would...
Thanks, Lefty. I had seen that thread and read through it earlier. Your are correct, it is a starting point. I have the misfortune of living in a area where there aren't any hatters or retail hat shops.
Thanks
Bill
but not sure if this is the proper place or if its even allowed. So, I would like to know if anyone has had dealings with a certain hat store. Is it permissible to post a question regarding a specific hat store in this forum? I have not had any dealings with any of them and just looking for...
In no particular order

Its going to be sacrilege here but I do not...
I will be ordering my Fedora this week. From what I read here a fur felt hat is preferred over a wool felt. I'm still on the fence about getting the Jaxon Bogart in gray, which is supposed to be a fur felt, or a Dobbs Strand in gray, which is supposed to be a wool felt. Which one would be the...
Thanks for that info, Widebrim. I'm kind of torn between the Jaxon and a Dobbs Strand at the moment. I've found a place that has them with only about $10 difference in price.
Thanks to all of you that have taken the time to reply to this thread. I'm still learning. Snap brim is something...
I'm closer to Knoxville than Memphis. Closest larger city to me is Lexington, 40 miles north. Far as I can find though, there are no Hat shops up there.
I'll try to find some of the hatters here. To be honest, I never thought of any of the people here as retailing hats. Don't know why, it...
I'm more southern in Kentucky. Cinci is over 120 miles from me. If I were going to be passing through there I'd be inclined to go to that shop. I actually live in the middle of no where. From where I live its over 10 miles to the nearest grocery. Anyhow, thank you for replying to my post.
