I have a question

but not sure if this is the proper place or if its even allowed. So, I would like to know if anyone has had dealings with a certain hat store. Is it permissible to post a question regarding a specific hat store in this forum? I have not had any dealings with any of them and just looking for overall customer satisfaction comments.

Thanks,

Bill

Ok. I was looking at some of the hats at Hats In The Belfry. Was wondering how other peoples interactions with them have been.

Thanks

Bill

I don't have experience with them, and I'm sure someone with experience with chime in, but here's a thread where the shop is mentioned. It's not much, but it's a starting point.

Thanks, Lefty. I had seen that thread and read through it earlier. Your are correct, it is a starting point. I have the misfortune of living in a area where there aren't any hatters or retail hat shops.

Thanks
Bill

I've had one experience with them, and it was pretty satisfactory even though I didn't get hat from them. Someone had posted about a fur felt being sold at a very low price, if I remember right it was being discontinued. Anyway, I ordered the hat online, and within a short period of time recieved a phone call from a very nice lady who stated the hat had sold out, but offered a few other choices that she would give me for the same price. I didn't like the other hats and she stated that the amount charged to my card would be refunded within a few days, and it was. Like I said I didn't get a hat, but the customer service was great.

Well, the shop in Philly carries Kangol...a lot of Kangol. I got a beret there, and it was the only non-Kangol thing I remember (it was also the only one). The only employee was chiquely apathetic at best, though a more fitting description would be he seemed downright angry that I was in the store. I hope they aren't all that way, just my $00.02

Well, bd3 sounds like s/he is considering purchasing online, so I don't imagine the retail employees are going to matter much.

I have an acquaintance who purchased a fedora from Hats in the Belfry online. The transaction went off without a hitch.

The online retailers I have experience with are Hartford York/Menshats.com, Hats.com, Village Hat Shop, The Fedora Store, and Noggin'Tops, so I can't say personally on Hats in the Belfry.

bd3,
I purchased a hat for my wife from Hats in the Belfry on line and had no problem at all. The order came quick and exactly what I ordered. She was very happy with the hat.
I have also visited the store in Philly but didn't purchase anything there at that time. The salesperson was friendly and answered all my questions.

Thanks to all who posted. The way things are today I didn't want to spend money with a place that is difficult to deal with. So far it sounds like they are probably a decent place to deal with.

I'd really like to be able to go into a store to purchase a hat, but, I've been to all that would have Fedoras near me (none of which are actual hat stores) and what they have doesn't appeal to me. I mostly find caps like berets, or stingy brim hats, which I don't care for. There is one place that carries Stetsons, mostly western, but they do have 2 or 3 fedoras, only in black and none in my size. 7 1/8.

Again, thanks for your replies

You have a fairly small, common head size. I say go vintage, on ebay. You can probably get a nice vintage Lid pretty cheap. [huh]
