VC's
I heard about this on the radio earlier this week, it might be old news to you guys though............

BT, I still cannot imagine wanting to own this stuff myself. Maybe, as Dr. Greg said, when it becomes dry history, it'll become a lot less emotive - but for now it just doesn't sit right with me. But thanks for putting across the collectors point of view in such a measured way, I enjoyed reading...
Cheek
Most modern users do nothing more taxing than reaching for their car's cigarette lighter.
Rufus
How dare you sir! Occasionally I also have to adjust the volume on the stereo
and even on occasion, turn down the heating!:)
A good point, well made Ruf.
BT, that's a very good question, a very expansive question. For me at least, I don't have the wish to collect these items, and I'm not altogether clear why anyone would, because of what they represent - I can't draw a distinction between the aesthetics and the original purpose. My loss perhaps...
I think the distinction was made - of course it's essential that the lessons of history are taught (but you could argue that it doesn't seem to do much good!) These items are freely available to be seen in museums and any numbers of books, where hopefully they are seen within a proper context...
Irvin
The guy modeling doesn't look overly pleased though does he? Unlike Mr. Andrew Windsock there, looking very much the part in his real Irvin, sitting in that real Spitfire! Scramble! Great stuff Andrew, you lucky man.
I think there is a difficulty here in that Hitler and Stalin were not articles of an anachronistic religious faith or distant historical figures. Between them, millions of people did die. It's easily within living memory. And today, there are a great many people who endured shocking depravation...

Apologies in advance because I'm sure this might enrage the purists. I bought an Eastman 'Pearl Harbour' in May, and thought some photos might be of interest. I would expect the weathering on the new 50cal to be similar, but of course I cannot qualify that. I've worn this jacket...
Oh good, a bright shining light to darken our miserable self-imposed repro gloom..........I wonder if you always bite on something 5 times to find out whether you like it or not? And such a discerning palette too.......
Hurricane
Tremendous shots again, I particularly like the Hurricane taxiing. I don't know what it is, but I think the Hurricane is one of the few aircraft that looks as good on the ground as it does in the air. Thanks very much for posting these!
photos
Really good, great choice in monochrome too. I thought the shots of the
Mustang landing were particularly nice. Glad to see more if you have them?!?!
aero
Hi Univibe, if it's a Highwayman, I had extra inside pockets added, something
I find very useful - they don't charge for this either. And if I was really pushed to change something? Maybe a tad longer in the body, but that is more to do with my body shape than the jacket, so I guess Mike...
