I'm working my way through the Jeeves and Wooster box set I received for a Christmas gift. Although I've seen them all before the shows are just as good the second time around. I often think of Jeeves when I'm dressing in the morning and choose the wrong tie or when I say something I shouldn't...
I suppose I do, with tongue firmly planted in cheek. After all dressing and acting like you just walked off the set of a movie circa 1936 has to be done with at least a dash of humor if one is to keep from going a bit mad. :)
What makes you feel vintage?
Being on the trail in a wilderness area with pre 1950 gear and clothing.
Dressing to the nines and wandering through the streets of San Francisco, stopping at various watering holes for liquid refreshment.
Pounding the keys of my 1941 Royal typewriter...
I'm currently reading two books that go together like peanut butter and jelly. 'Among the Bohemians: Experiments in Living 1900-1939', by Virginia Nicholson and 'Antic Hay', by Aldous Huxley.
Since reading about him in the book 'Dharma Bums', by Jack Kerouac (my favorite book) I've felt a certain kinship to the Beat poet Gary Snyder. Perhaps a combination of Kerouac and Snyder would be my ideal choice.
I wear Arrow moccasins. I've got two pair, the Ligonier and the Center Seam. They've held up rather well over the years, the only problem being they don't come in half sizes, but nothing that a pair of thick wool socks wont solve.
