All the photos in this thread are so much fun! I've never got comfortable enough in front of a camera to do any pin-ups (professional photographers are pretty much done with me and my nervous facial expressions lol ) - so I especially applaud all you ladies who have the courage to do it...
Marzipan - very cute with the beret! The bangs are looking great, too. ;)
Laura Chase, the black WAC cap I was wearing in the most recent pictures is by my friend, yes. It's my very favourite hat that she makes, because it looks cute with just about anything and on just about anyone! It's...
This is an interesting point. I don't know exactly what you mean by "assisted," but I have found that people are more likely to open doors for me/pull out chairs/help me with a heavy shopping bag, etc. if I'm dressed in my vintage style.
Do we look more vulnerable and helpless in vintage, or...
I'm so excited for this film. I'd been a huge Burton fan for most of my life, but Planet of the Apes and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory made me wonder if he'd lost his touch.
Fortunately he redeemed himself splendidly with Sweeney Todd; I have hope that he'll do my favourite books great...
Yeah, well, wouldn't they all? Reality check, guys.
If we could roll out of bed and leave the house without doing our hair, putting on makeup and working out, and still look great, don't they think we would?
I suppose it might sound harsh, but I think if your guy isn't willing to...
I love this thread, so much great inspiration!
maggiethespy, your hair is just amazing. The curls suit you so well and your makeup is beautiful too. Is that your real hair colour?
And Audrey Horne, you have the best long hair style! It's so gorgeous and glamourous on you. Plus...
He'll just have to face the fact that for you to look your glamourous self during the day, you have to set your hair at night. As StaceFace said, the end result justifies the means. You two have been together long enough that I think it's not a big deal. A cute scarf might help too.
Miss_Bella, I wear contacts, but they're clear so they don't affect my eye colour. I have a friend who wears Acuvue coloured contacts, though, and he really likes them. They look pretty natural!
Naama, it rains a lot here (Seattle) too - I have lived in Seattle and London and I know what...
Thank you so much for the step-by-step, RedDiabla! I will have to try again. :D
Inky, I'm not sure I've ever had my eyebrows complimented before. :o Thank you! I always love your pictures... especially the 80s punk one you had up in some thread. It made me smile and it's really fun to...
If I were a man, I would definitely pick Myrna Loy! She wasn't necessarily the most glamourous woman of the golden era, but she was beautiful, smart, articulate, witty and politically active.
As a straight female, though, I have to toss in my two favourites... Gregory Peck and Peter...
Marzipan, you look very cute with the scarf and braids!
And Red Diabla, your pincurls came out great! I wish that I could do that well, but I have just never mastered it. Foam curlers for me.
Thanks so much for all the compliments! You're all very sweet.
The hat was made by a friend of mine and she does have a shop on Etsy. It's the Irene Dunne hat (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=10309879). She uses vintage hatblocks, so they do look very authentic...
The lady behind the BoringSidney Etsy shop is a friend of mine! She has made me a bunch of absolutely stunning hats... I can vouch for her creativity and talent and her hats are worth every penny! She's also outstanding about custom orders.
I will post some modeling pictures here as I wear...
Marzipan, I like the new bangs much better in your current avatar photo than in the original one you posted! :eusa_clap
Here's my hair today, set on small curlers, with and without the hat I'm wearing today. :o
I've tried velcro rollers and several types of standard foam rollers and got sort of sub-par results from both. I know these look really, really silly but I have had fantastic results from them. I usually use the large size on top and around my face and the smaller size around the nape of my...
ClaraB, AudreyHorne and Lillemor thank you for the kind comments! :o
Marzipan, you look beautiful either way! However (I know it's not what you want to hear), I think the hair without bangs suits your face more. It might be more the bluntness of the bangs than the fact that there are...
Sorry for the bad quality of the picture; my only camera at the moment is the iSight and if you've ever been to Seattle in November, you know what the natural light is like right now: nonexistent.
