Speaking of heavier fabrics, last year I purchased two Golden Fleece suits at our local BB, and the fabric is incredible. No other suit I have, and I own some pretty fair ones, hang like they do. It did not hurt that I scored them for $400, as opposed to the listed $2k.
I think I am going...
I'm a New York boy, but I just read the Steve Hodel book about the Black Dahlia murder. It really awakens some envoy for the LA of the 1930s and 1940s. What a terrifc peak into the past that book is! Like a Raymond Chandler novel, only real (and much, much scarier).

I have a very serious shoe problem, and I thought that I had finally stabilized. Zohar's picture, however, has me in a tailspin. I have to have those Broadstreets.
Zohar, do you have a pair of the black and white ones as well?
Vintage Watches or Retro Look
Guys, becoming ever more eccentric, I would like to add a couple of vintage or vintage look watches to my collection. Interested in round dial, art deco type pieces. Outside of ebay, does anyone have a recommended source?
Thanks.

Art, I 'd love to see that new color. Wow, what a difficult decision.
Just for a few laughs, I was in my office with the conformer over my head, dutifully tightening the wing nuts when I heard a gasp from my doorway. My secretary had stepped in, and as you might imagine, had absolutely no...
New AE Spectators
Mates, I just spoke with my local AE outlet guy, and next month AE will be releasing a new two-color wingtip. Named the McClain, the shoe will come in two shades of frown. I have a scan that I am attempting to attach. If it does not go through, and if someone would like to...
Great thought, Cruiser. That powder blue (light greyish blue) might be a nice foil to the darkish suits. The sage (a greyish green) might also work well.
Guys, I just received my conformer from Art, and now it is time to select a color. This is my first fedora. I wear mostly grey suits. My initial thought was to go with the "granite" color, but the others are so beautiful.
Any thoughts? The "powder blue", steel mist, dark moss and light...
Guys, thanks again so much for the advice and help. One more question: if you buy the old frames, is it fairly easy to get modern lenses (i.e., my prescription) put in them?

Guys, I just stopped back by the shop, tried it on again, and could not pull the trigger. I just thought it looked funny on my head. It really is beautiful, and looks like it has not even been worn. It still had a small, very yellowed, paper tag io the back inside brim, right beneath the bow...
Thanks so much for the reinforcement! With respect to the Homburg, what do you think? Would it work? Most of my suits are very conservative, dark greys and the like.
I'm a lawyer, and am somewhat worried that wearing a Homburg would open me up to claims of trying to hard to cut an interesting figure around the courthouse. Not that a fedora would be much different, but something about the Homburg seems even more, shall we say eccentric? I am an eccentric...
Vintage Eyeglasses -Merged Thread-
Folks, looking to get a pair of vintage eyeglasses, preferably from the 1930s. Maybe something like Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman wore.
Any idea for sources? (beside Ebay)
