Here is a link to some pretty good dope on Woolrich. A pretty tortured soul, but a fascinating writer.

I am a large fan of Hammett. I have to say that I prefer Chandler, however. More levity, and more campy in a Hollywood sort of way.
Another less known noir master is Cornell Woolrich, whom I am just beginning to discovery. Anyone read any of his work?

Guys, what is out there in the way of after-shaves and colognes that are Golden Era-friendly? I have Old Spice, Pinaud and Clubman Bay Rum. Are there others that you favor?
Thanks.

Mates:
My faith in Ebay has been re-established. Last week I scored a mint condition Belvest double-breasted navy suit on Ebay for $130.00. It arrived today, and it is truly mint. Quickly became the class of my closet. I will post some pics, as soon as I figure out how to do so.
Wow...
Guys, why is it there are so few long sizes in vintage clolthing? I am a 48L. At 6' 3", 215 lbs., hardly a physical anomaly. Yet I can find no vintage clothing in my size, and I look pretty hard.

This really is a great thread. I have spent a lot of money on suits over the years, and I have three in my closet right now that really look and wear the best. And they are not the most expensive. I have two Golden Fleece BB three-button suits that have an incredibly dense wool that looks...
Guys, my Christmas present to myself arrived today: a vintage, dead stock Royal Stetsom Whippet in a size 7 1/2. Mint beyond description. Still has the original paper price tab on the inside of the leather band ($10.00).
It is completely unshaped. Being a newbie to hat-dom, I need some...
Guys, I just found this link, checked the site, and feel like I fell into heaven. Has anyone here ordered any shoes or suits from Magnoli? I'd be interested in hearing.
Thanks.

Guys, I'm a displaced Yankee living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Does anyone know of a decent MTM tailor in North Carolina who could fashion some old school suits?
Thanks.

I am pround to announce the purchase of a Stetson Whippet in a size 7 1/2. Remarkably, it appears to be dead stock, never worn, it a flawless matching box. According to the seller, it dates from the early 1940s. I will post pics when it arrives.
By the way, how do you post pictures...
Those ostrich specs are incredible lookingl. As to the Allen Edmonds spring 07 offering, I thought the linen brown and white was going to be the only new spectator model. I hope I am wrong.
What do you guys think about the linen thing in a spectator? How does it hold up? What happens if...
I have a pair of the Tramezzas, and they are terrific shoes. Probably on the order of the Crockett & Jones handgrades. Do these look to you guys like a decent facsimile of the "Golden Era" type of shoes?
