The Heartbreaker Diner dress? That's actually the dress I was trying to knock off! It was out of my shopping budget so I tried to make something similar.:)
I just noticed how dark it photographed and it really does look black but it's actually navy blue.
I completed the bulk of this dress last month but had several interruptions and just finally finished the side and front closure yesterday afternoon. Of course I had to wear it to work today...
Hollywood #763 Betty Grable
I'm starting to average 3 shampoos a week. I've noticed that my hair is just in much better condition without constant washing as it is very dry from my regular dyeing. I tend to wear my hair in up-dos during the week as the added "dirty" texture really lends a hand in the styling.
I used to...
Sweet! I snagged a bunch of repro and vintage style patterns when Butterick/McCall's/Vogue when they had that crazy sale two weeks ago...otherwise I'd be bying more. It's a good time to stock up! Their shipping rate is the only bummer. :(
If you have been checking out any particular pattern and are curious about it, Pattern Review is a great resource. You can look up reviews from people who have actually used the patterns. A lot of repro patterns are on there with multiple reviews. :)

I bought a Hot Sticks set after hearing so many raves from ladies with fine, hard to curl hair like mine. I've tried using them several times with different techniques and the result is always the same...a sloppy curl that falls out by mid afternoon. So sad. The Remington Beach Waves haven't...
Those are nice too! But these are the ones I ordered:

I got them in black and almond.
I have fine hair and the Remington Beach Waves rollers work great for me. They are heated "bendy" rollers. I've seen the bendy rollers in beauty supply stores that are used for cold sets but I have not tried them.
Having sewed both Simplicity 3673 and Butterick 4790 I would lean towards Simplicity 3673. It's a more versatile piece and since it's a jumper, you can layer different tops under it for the colder months that are coming. I would save Butterick 4790 for a late winter, early spring project since...
I recently took a chance picked up the Hollywood Pants from Newport News. I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how they look on me. I was worried that my pear shape would make them look frumpy and weird but I've gotten so many compliments on them. They are REALLY high waisted though.
I just made this one up too! It's soooo easy. I made the sheath version first and then the full skirt. I wore the full skirt version to work a few weeks ago without a blouse and it definitely changes the look. People kept asking me where I was going after work. This is one of my favorite patterns.
Here it is Black Dahlia:

I pinned it so it looked decent on my form. My form is much smaller than me.
And here's my pattern review entry for it...
Black Dahlia, I love that Simplicity jumper pattern. It was so easy and so fast coming together. I love how the bodice is lined and clean finished.
I made the slim sheath style. My problem was that it had way too much ease and I should've made it smaller. According to the envelope, I made a...
Are there any repro patterns out there for 40s Blouses, like a few styles in one envelope? I've seen vintage ones ou there but it seems it would make a handy repro.
Love it so much! I've been dying to make one of these babies for the longest time!
I wish I could draft my own patterns but I don't have a ME sized dress form yet. Maybe one of these Christmases Santa will bring me one!
