I can't see a taper but the crown on the brown hat is higher than your moonstone crown. Lower the crown on the brown Fed a bit more and that should give it a squarer look. -

Michael, yes the brim is down all the way around but it was easy enough to get an upward curve on the back of the brim. I rolled up a tea towel, put an elastic band at each end of the 'roll' to keep the roll tight, steamed the back of the brim and curved it around the rolled up tea towel. It... -

You might also want to take a look at the RM Williams "RM" Hat http://www.rmwilliams.com.au/akubra--rm--hat/HA179.html In my opinion it's a nicer brown than the Cedar Brown CD and slightly taller crown. Not open crown but very easy to reshape into a fedora with a little bit of steam. -
