Has Open Road stamped on the sweat, so the ribbon was maybe changed?
Added a couple of pics. The ribbon was definitely changed as you can see the shadow of the previous one at the bow. Any guess as to it's age. The other stamp is just the standard J.B. Stetson 3X one.
First vintage hat.
Don't guess it's that old, but $11.99 for a boxed Open Road I wasn't passing up. No moth bites, just dirty as all get out. The sweat is in excellent shape, but the liner looks a bit shabby. You can't really tell from the pics too well, but the whole thing needs a good...
Well it's nothing fancy or real nice, but it's new to me. Picked this sage Chatham up in Garland Sat. It's got a few issues, but for the $$$ I can overlook them. Bought it to be more of an everyday/every outfit type of hat. Maybe later this summer I'll have someone put a welt on the brim.
Definitely looks better with the binding, IMO. I found a dark, fingerprint sized spot on the back underside of the brim edge last night that I missed. Gonna have to try and get that off. That's the bad thing about most of the hats I saw at the outlet. Greasy fingerprints.
Well, I happened to be in the Garland Hatco Outlet area today and stopped by to see what they had. A decent 7 3/8 sage Chatham with little to no powder on it for a good price. I tried on a raggedy 7 1/4 they had and it was a little snug like most 7 1/4 hats are on me, but the 7 3/8 was fairly...
Ha! Ain't that the truth!! My wife is from Hoisington and I'm from out south of Dodge City (Bucklin) so I can relate. Whenever I'm back in town and I wear anything but a ball cap or a cowboy hat I'm looked at like I'm an alien.
A couple from just one of my favorite movies.
"I love the smell of napalm in the morning....." - Robert Duvall - Apocalypse Now
"I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you...
Tears in the Darkness by Michael Norman. About Ben Steele and other's experiences on the Bataan Death March. Very scary.
The Lost Generation- Children of the Holocaust by Azriel Eisenberg. Again....very scary, but also uplifting in the strength shown.
Don't let that sad, lonely look get you! They can play that scene with the best of them to get what they want. People think they are a less intelligent dog, but they are cunning and devious and supremely stubborn, much smarter than you'd ever think.
Picked this up at one of the local antique shops a while back for next to nothing ($10). I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of it's age? I don't think it's very old at all, but it fit and goes with jeans well.
Picked up a pair of "vintage" Klipsch Heresy's (1982) for near nothing a couple of years ago. My best find for the $$$ so far. I believe this was the last year of the original production Heresy's. Grills are in great shape as well. I've been meaning to rework the crossover and damp the back...
At least he has them on his head! My Roofer above got his all time record with 9 individual socks in his mouth the other day, pilfered out of the laundry basket. I think he might be defective.
Here's my Grandfather's 8mm Mauser that I inherited. He built the stock and sporterized it for hunting back in the early 50's I believe. It's very pretty in person as the photo doesn't do it justice. My main pistol is my Springfield XD9 Tactical which I love.
Bettye Lavette's remake of Talking Old Soldiers--if you ever get to see her Austin City Limits performance of this song....WOW!!!

I have a question for all of you sunglass experts. I have very light sensitive eyes due to many surgeries thru the years and have a very hard time finding any lenses that are dark enough. I wouldn't mind finding a pair of vintage frames I like and then have lenses put in, but have no idea how...
Thanks. I've got a dozen more anyway since that pic was taken. Only a few are really "collectibles" in the true sense, but most are clean, shiny, and serviceable. Each has their own distinctive personality in the way they shave as well. I haven't started on hats much yet as I just have 3-4...
