I also have found many of the responses and suggestions here thoughtful and productive. I'm pleased that I am not the only one finding this thread helpful.
We are out here! Perhaps what we need is a FL match service. Apparently, I am not the only one having the same issues.
The museum and swing dance lessons are excellent suggestions, but I do have an awful time just walking up to someone and striking up an interesting conversation. Not too many...
Yes, on the other side of the coin, there ARE many a young single gentleman at the local car shows. I will agree with you there, especially since that now I have joined that particular group!
Excellent suggestions, and I have signed up for rockabillydate.com as well. Of course, I am just looking for single women, not married ones! Hope to avoid that sort of thing. Thank you for your response.
Thank you for all the ideas! I am very interested in local history - so the historical society events are a fine thought. As a longtime attendee of car shows, however, experience tells me that most women in attendance are not single. Thank you again for your response.
Angry mail, eh? Those are exactly the type of folks one doesn't want to attract via a dating site. I have tried such sites in the past with mixed, mostly negative results. I feel they have a bit of a "meat-market" atmosphere to them.
That is a fine idea - certainly something I would not have thought of myself. Since I can't dance too well, I could certainly benefit from a few classes...I will have to search and see if there are any such places that are close by. Thank you for your quick response.

Scott
Hello all,
I am recently single (rather sadly and suddenly, actually) and it happens that my ex was certainly anti-retro everything. It was something that was difficult to overcome, considering how passionately old school I am.

Is constructing a built-in umbrella rack an option? We have one flanking our front door (sits alongside the cubbyholes) original to the house (circa 1921).
I have a decent collection of 78s spanning the teens and '20s (Billy Murray, The Haydn Quartet) to the late '50's (Everlys, Fats ets) and everything in between. Love the format...a lot of great artists, great music and great labels.
Just picked up a '34 Atwater Kent 145 on the 'Bay for $66...this will be the oldest radio in my collection, which consists mainly of 1940s to early 1960s-era sets.
An original 1922 lithograph of Maxfield Parrish's "Daybreak" hangs over the fireplace. Also have a bust of Diana (Roman goddess of the hunt) signed by Fernand Cian dated 1922 or 1923 hanging out between colonnades in the grand entry hall. My dining room is decorated with framed old 1930's movie...
Thanks, Kilroy. It's my little springtime project. Figure a little bicycling would help me get in better shape, too. I had a stripped black Fleet back when I was a kid that was stolen off the rear patio. I love the lines and style of the old bikes! Here is the Fleet page from the 1963 dealer...
Here is my April 1963-built 26" Schwinn Fleet. Not a ballooner, but a middleweight. Fleets came with a tank, fender-mounted headlight, and rear package carrier. Needs tires so I am ordering up some 26x2x1.75" wide whites. I know these "middleweights" tip the scales at about 50 pounds...just how...
