I like it, Dinerman. Tasteful, adds a bit of flair without screaming, "HEY! I'M A FEATHER! LOOK AT ME! YEAH, YOU!" The color coordination helps, too, methinks. Looks like it's part of the hat (or at least belongs with it) rather than something that was just slapped on there.

I hear ya. I can't explain it. It's just... I dunno. Yick.
If anybody, I'd rather be Joe Friday! Dragnet's the whole reason I started wearing hats anyway. :D
As for associations in general, I really don't get why people can't accept that this is simply the way I dress, and who I am...
Beyond my navel piercing, the only jewelry I wear is my wristwatch -- although, I think it's debatable whether an eight-dollar Wal-Mart watch counts as "jewelry"... [huh]
I'm not much of a jewelry person, although for me it isn't out of concern for my masculinity as it is purely aesthetic...
Well, my story's a lot less exciting than crazy people, that's for sure. :)
Sometime last week, I had my Bailey Executive with me at work. It's a wool camel-colored stingy brim with a wide chocolate brown ribbon. It originally came with a center crease and a pretty shallow pinch; I deepened...
- Steel grey Jaxon Bogart fedora
- Orphaned navy blue SB two-button suit jacket (well, not technically orphaned... I have the entire suit, but the waistcoat and pants are too long for me -- hey, three-dollar thrift store find :) )
- Light grey shirt
- 1940s red-and-blue swing tie (my...
Whether or not I remove it, depends on the feather. My Jaxon Bogart came with a long, flowing feather taller than the crown of the hat itself. Very pimpish. That one came out the second after I opened the box. On the other hand, I have a black wool beater fedora that came with a...
It's been my experience that it's really just a matter of one's own attitude and tastes, as well as the ensemble the hat is paired with. Base guidelines about what brim size and crown shape go with what facial shape and all that are good, but what it boils down to is: do you think you look good...
I hope this means any hat, not just hats one owns. Otherwise, given my meager collection, I'm stuck with a good-but-nothing-special Jaxon Bogart that's still in transit. ;)
If I were to have only one hat, it would definitely be my Joe Friday dream hat: slight taper, pinch-front, teardrop...
I was just thinking... if we were to go with the three-designs approach, would it be too simplistic to suggest the starting guideline that one be urban in styling, one be rural, and the third straddle the fence/be sort of a hybrid?
I dunno. In my experience, the Lounge has always been very civil (no pun intended)... I think it could be left up to the masses to convene and trade ideas without us all tearing each others' throats out, given, as was proposed, we're talking about two or three designs, rather than just one.
 I can almost see sewing it to the ribbon if you really really like the feather (note the key word: almost), but to the felt, too? Wow. Just... wow.
Wow. O_o
That's worse than the pocket square I saw in a jacket at Goodwill last week. Looked normal at first glance, but when I...
Even if it winds up not being the best quality hat ever, it's still a nifty-looking lid, especially for $16. :D
I don't know; the feather's kinda quirky. I like it. Just not in that hat. ;)
