Never noticed it,.....:D I suppose I'll have to watch it again,....four the sixth or seventh time.
Looking at old family photos of my grandfather's and great-grandfather's,.....they all looked a mess also, even when they got dressed up! Clothes just didn't seem to fit just right, their suit...
Being quite secure with not only my values but my decisions and opinions, I've never felt the need for a "Role Model".
However, there have been literally hundreds of "men who's character I admire" both throughout history and in my personal life that I have learned a great deal from and...
Thank you sir, that was my intent.
:) My intent in posting was not to show off my boots, but to illustrate the fact that if Doug C wanted to have a pair made to look like the boots he admires in Giant, he can.
One of my favorite "feel good" movies!
I had no idea what it was about when it started, but as soon as it was over I spent the rest of the night researching the true story and was not disappointed!:D
Blucher makes all my boots,.....if you have a photo or just an idea, Smitty can make them. You pick the toe-box, hight, heal, leather, stitching style and color,.....everything.
These all started as nothing more than an idea in my head.
:) I have dozens of before and after Optimo photos but I'll not bore you with but these;
Before
The hat was so filthy I didn't even want to handle it, and it was two sizes too small.
After
I know that compliments fly around here like crows in the fall regardless of whether or not the hat looks good on the person or not, but I gotta tell ya Scott,.....that may be one of the coolest hats I've ever seen.
With the exception of one, all of my vintage hats have gone to Optimo for a complete re-furbish. Each time when they received the hat Tiffini called me to discuss it with me and explain things like;
"We'll try to clean it up but the stain may not come out."
"We won't be able to do anything...
Thanks for starting this thread Skeet,...UPS delivered my Bean Pot yesterday and we just sampled my first pot full of Boston Baked Beans an hour ago. The recipe that comes with the pot is perfect!!
For years I've tweaked recipes to suit our own tastes, always trying to improve them,.......I...
Welcome to the forums AngryNJ,.....I have three of their hats and love them. If I may; I would highly suggest you call them for a chat.....they are really nice folks and love to talk. It's not like talking to a receptionist either,..it's a small family business so it's like talking to one of...
I have a Borsalino from what appears to be the late 1950's that has a paper tag inside that says Stibina,.....I don't know if this is the color or the stye.
For what it's worth:
I wish I had some photos to post, but unfortunatelly I have not one.
Our fire chief told me this morning that today was "the debut" of his first hat.
He is the now the proud owner of a completely re-furbished fedora that once was his father-in-law's vintage Dobbs 20 from the 1950's that we had...
Having been an avid hunter for most of my life I've had the opportunity to sample countless wild game dishes,.....when I was younger I enjoyed most of them and shared them with family members and many of my friends.
But as I got older I began to realize that,.........well,.....it really wasn't...
Welcome Rafal,.....:)
Hat shape in relation to face shape is best judged in a mirror with several hats to choose from. If you have access to a shop, that's the only way to fly.
Fortunately for you, judging by your photo, you seem to have a normal face shape,....any hat will probably look...
Thanks for the info LizzieMain,.......if you have any more info PM me as I'd love to try them. I'll Google them now, I never heard of "yellow-eye beans".:D
Thanks for the link Skeet,....I just ordered a 2 1/2 qt. pot!!
Yummy!
Looks good on you! I've got three of their hats and love them.
The lack of the snap on the front can be a good thing, I like to kick mine back off the brim or over to the side for a different look every now and then. Not all the time,....but every now and then. :D
Brad, I too use pintos most of the time, but I assumed they were talking about white beans. Not positive mind you, but most bean recipes I've seen from up north use them.
