My outdoor labor hat is a Tilley sun hat with a 4" brim. It is much more practical than a cap because it protects more of my head. In the winter when I operate the snow thrower I wear a Russian ushanka. Very stylish!!
That's a fair point. I remember writing that baseball caps belong only on baseball players while they are playing baseball. I see the point of wearing team oriented clothing to the ball park to support your team. So I'll modify my position to include fans at baseball games. Do you think we...
Being able to see clearly is worth whatever it takes. I've had to wear glasses for the past 30 years. Getting out a magnifying glass every time I wanted to read something got old very quickly. Nice hat, by the way.
Wow. It will take some serious luck for you to find something.
As far as I know, the Milanese don't braid whieat straw any longer. I think the Chinese do, however, and i think the Optimo milans are made from that. The milans made by Hatco are polyester and I wouldn't even guess about what...
The only way to determine the manufacturer is to find something under the sweat band. Maybe something will be there when it arrives. I have a very nice homburg that is a mystery manufacturer something like your new hat.
I view that as a positive thing. I think prices are too low on Ebay. The reason is not sniping, though, it is simply a matter of supply and demand. I do some selling on Ebay and VERY little buying so high prices are a good thing from my perspective.
And besides, aren't opposing bidders...
Well, you may be right or you may be wrong. The problem with your argument is that you have defined some scanrios designed to bolster your point. There is no reason to think that what you suggest happens a majority of the time, if at all. Feel free to bid whenever you like. It is fine with me.
Rick. Do whatever you like. In my experience bidding with a sniping program lost as many auctions as bidding my max whenever. What do you do with a sniping program? Well, you bid you max. The only difference is when you bid it. Again, the purpose of a sniping program is to prevent people...
It is easy to see why the Whippet appeals to so many. It has the right sized brim with a bound edge and the right sized crown. It is well proportioned. I liked my first modern Whippet so much I bought a second one. I'll leave the vintage ones to others.
You don't shoot your spending power at all. You just bid your max. People aren't adjusting upward to your max. They are bidding somewhere between your max and the current bid, thereyby raising the current bid. There is no way around the fact that the high bid wins.
A better idea is to bid your max. The current bid will still be the minimum and you will still win it at that price if there are no other bidders. If it goes beyond your max, then so be it. You didn't want it above your max anyway.
Actually, I think sniping or bidding in the last seconds is pointless. The product goes to the highest bidder whether he was the first one or a last second sniper. If you bid your miaximum on day one, you can forget about and do other things with your life. The bid will be whatever the...
I'm the one that was confused. I assume you got the message after the auction closed. If you got it before the auction closed then you just got an email from Ebay trying to drum up more bids. If you were at $107 and lost it at $109, then you were sniped (beaten by a computer program that bids...
Sure. The high bidder withdrew his bid leaving you as the high bidder at $51 which was just above the bidder behind you. You didn't act and the seller got another offer and took it - perhaps from the original high bidder or someone else - probably someone else. If you had jumped on the second...
Ebay is a paid public advertising venue. The users should be able to use it as they see fit. If you want to make offers to sellers, do so. Don't complain that others do it. Nobody owes you a bargain.
Thanks, Wojo, good see yet another Hoosier on the forum. Milans in good condition show up on Ebay regularly. Pick one you like and let Optimo rework it. The hat itself was about $25 if I remember right and Optimo's work was $55. Since you can't buy new real wheat straw Milan hats anymore...
