Most people don't own that many hats and I'm a small timer compared to many on Fedora Lounge. It gets even worse because these are just the country and western hats. I have another bunch of city hats and yet another bunch of straws. Actually, I normally keep 8 hats in my rotation because that...
I call it a Flinders because that is what is written on the sweatband. It appears to have been an exclusive. At any rate, you see it in its original brand new state - except for the braided kangaroo leather band, of course. Here's an image with the original hat band.
Show us your westerns. Include your country hats. Here is the dozen I wear most often
Front row L to R: MHT black wool felt, Stetson Rancher Gray Mist 7X, Resistol chocolate 3X, Serratelli silverbelly 8X
Second row L to R: Stetson Bent Tree Shantung, Stetson Open Road silverbelly 4X...
Just a guess but I'll bet the Stetson dealers are allowed to use Stetson components for a repair that they do but not simply sell them. I know they have these components. I sent a Stetson Western to Henry the Hatter for a restoration and it came back with a new Stetson sweat band. I've also...
Thanks to all you gents. We had a great visit from my sisters. We ate well and had long chats about the old days. My wife enjoyed it as well. Having been raised in Havana until the age of 13, I still miss the place despite what has happened to it. I'd love to visit one day.
The short sleeved "guayabera" is a fairly recent thing. I never saw a short sleeved guayabera in 40's or 50's Cuba nor one that wasn't white in color nor made of linen. It had four pockets and was always worn outside the trousers - like a blazer. The guayabera was something Cuban men wore...
I wore a Panama indoors Saturday night! This is something I never do. A couple of my sisters visited over the weekend. To celebrate our childhood, we prepared a Cuban dinner the way our mother used to make it. I wore a traditional linen guayabera. One of my sisters said she wanted to...
There were never any rules, only customs and good manners. Those are still in place. Moving the "problem" to someone else doesn't change anything. It is still rude to eat with a hat on your head. Nobody is keeping you from being rude. It is a choice you make. In my case, if there is...
$500 for a wool hat is pretty outrageous regardless of whose name is on it. I don't argue with success, however, and Ralph Lauren certainly has had plenty of that. I don't like distressed clothing. I throw it out and replace it when it gets distressed. This one wouldn't last long for me.
I make my own ebb. I just put in my maximum bid which is normally a very good price and let it ride. I lose almost all the auctions I enter but when I win one, it is always a bargain. I have enough hats that I don't need to get excited about some particular hat on Ebay. If I lose, I shrug my...
Congratulations on the new car. I've done pretty well with some of the Kangol caps, particularly those that are made in England. They have a very broad product line and you should be able to find something that appeals to you. Borsalino has some very nice ivys as well but are somewhat pricey.
