Fantastic! You're looking the best by far - frock coats (especially modern ones with a fused or too lightweight canvas) don't look good unbuttoned, they don't have enough form.
Oddly enough, most people here find that modern ties are far too long (as vintage trousers are worn higher, so a tie that's intended to end at your hips is too long to end at the waist).
With the blue I have, you wrap the tablet in cotton or muslin, stir it while squeezing into the last rinsing water, and then briefly dip each item into the water one at a time. There's no volume information, unfortunately...
A/C in homes (even brand new ones) both here and in the UK is close to unheard of, in my experience. Obviously there's a huge temperature difference between here and California, but we use synthetic building materials, breathe, have dust, etc., and cope just fine.
When I was at primary school (90s), we were forbidden to use anything to write with other than fountain pens. Biros were especially forbidden. It was just a normal state school. When I was at secondary school, the uniform was a proper shirt, tie, trousers, leather shoes (that had to be...
Very nice! I still need to reblock my topper, but it's just not done in Sweden, and I don't want to take it to the UK when I fly there..
I suppose I'll just have to take the train or drive to London some time.
All I know for certain is I won't be getting it, I'm about to go to bed!
Let's just hope the millionth post doesn't get deleted - that would be quite confusing...
I've gotta agree cptjeff, I never even bother to turn mine inside out. I do hang dry, though, but I do that with all my clothes.
I only use our dryer on towels, really. I don't like what it does to clothes, and such a waste of electricity.
100 to go!
Assuming no posts are deleted until we have 100 more, post ID 1014145 will be the millionth.

Linen is supposed to wrinkle, it's one of the charms!
I have a modern linen/cotton blend suit which is great, and a vintage 100% wool suit. The wool suit feels as thin and lightweight as modern super-xxx suits, but without the horrible appearance of the fabric (imo). If the wool was any...
An interactive Google Maps map was created quite some time ago:

It's probably a bit out of date, but it puts 3 Australians, 6 Brits and an astounding amount of...
Unfortunately as the weather has been horrendously cold, most flea markets and things have been closed due to weather. They're starting to open again, I stumbled upon a silk topper but the brim had been completely flattened and there was no grosgrain ribbon, so I didn't grab it. Shipping would...
I must agree, I'm really not sure that the UK has a "tradition" of wing collars being exclusively for white tie, at least in the 20s and 30s. Maybe that happened later, but I'd say that's just because wing collars were more awkward and inconvenient, and as white tie became worn exclusively by...
