Optimo Milan
I don't have an Optimo Milan. I do have an Optimo Monticristi, with another on the way.
BUT, when I went to buy the 2nd Monticristi I tried on a Milan, and I have to tell you, I almost bought the Milan. It just caressed my head in a way that looked and felt great. Only my...
Hat size
I'll need some help from other FLers here:
If I did the math correctly, 21" circumference is a 6-7/8 hat size. You should go to a hat store, or at least a store that sells hats, and try on a number of them to get your size.
My 23-1/2" noggin is just slightly larger than a 7-1/2.
Good choice
I hope you enjoy your Optimo as much as I've enjoyed mine. I have the Manhattan style in grey, and I, too, dress it down. It's a great hat and has been rained on and snowed on without any problems. The beaver/nutria blend is tops in my book.
Check out the review from The Times (London ) of today's showing of the new IJ movie in Cannes.

Don't forget to play the video!
This is from today's Financial Times. Be sure to scroll down for a second article on fedoras.

It also seems that the "Hatless Jack" myth just won't die!
haberdasher
There's a great haberdasher in Charleston, Ben Silver. I don't know if they have hats, but they have everything else. High quality, with prices to match.

Knoxville
I was in Knoxville last week for a vendor conference. As I was leaving the Copper Cellar on Cumberland a woman said "nice chapeau" to me.
Interestingly, it was the second time in a week that a woman said "nice chapeau" to me. I wonder if "fancying up" the comment into French...
Optimo Hats...
are great, but you'll pay for what you get. When everything's custom, it's hard to put prices on a website. The best advice is to call them and chat with Graham. (773)238-2999
Nice comments
In Brooks Bros. on Saturday, one of the salesmen stopped me to ask about my hat (an Optimo). As I was on the way out, it wasn't just part of his "hustle."
On Wednesday I was at the VA hospital. A guy stopped me in the hall with "Hey, brother, where did you get that hat?"...
Another option?
Here's a link to a Panama hat specialist in the UK. I know nothing about them or their hats, but perhaps postage from the UK to Indonesia will be lower.

Another hat article
There's an article in today's New York Times about vests. About a third of the models are shown wearing fedoras.

Not the best fedoras, IMHO, but it's a start.
Welcome to the club
I own a number of hats, from an Akubra Safari to several Optimos. I even have an Optimo Monticristi. But put me near wind, water and/or sweat (as on a golf course) and my Tilley is on my head.
As you point out, you should own your hat, not the other way around. If you...
A third option
You might want to consider a Tilley hat. They're indestructible, pack flat, keep the sun far from your skin, and have the necessary wind straps. Mine's over 10 years old and has been wonderful (even if rustic). The newer ones are more stylish.
