    New Fur Felt under $100

Shipping costs Maybe I'm wrong here.... I just purchased a hat from Everything Australian and the shipping cost was AUD 21.44, which is roughly USD 18.30. According to the Hornet website, shipping is GBP 20.00, which is USD 33.00. Are my figures correct?

matchless friends Well, actually the TSA did ban matches and lighters. However, this policy changed so we would be in synch with the rest of the world, that permitted them. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_multi_image_with_table_0099.shtm I understand...

For almost 20 years I visited Portland 2-3 times a year on business, and I always dropped in on John Helmer. A great store with quality merchandise.

Really nice hat, RLK. Not necessarily the finest weave, but the consistancy and color are wonderful. A true find.

The nicest comment I ever heard

I was having a gelato at an outdoor cafe this afternoon. A guy in a passing pickup truck rolled down his window and shouted "nice hat, sir." Totally unexpected, totally pleasant, totally pleasing.

    Panama Hat Thread

Lefty's question I don't like flat white hats, I think they're boring, so the yellow straws in the hat are fine by me. And I think black ribbons are just too common. So part of me likes this hat. But, and it's a big but, the rows are all over the place. If you follow a row horizontally...

Hello! And some advice for an Akubra, please!

head shape If your hats are tight in the front and back, but loose on the sides, you have a Long Oval head. Be sure to tell anyone from whom you purchase that you have this; it may change your requirements.

Yes, Boodles, I have a hat can that I bought at Alcalas here in Chicago. The homburg, though, hasn't left town yet. I tend to travel with felt hats. Just one less thing to worry about.

    How to travel with hats

This has actually been discussed before. There are two major hazards to hats. First, that some clod will put his luggage on your hat. My experience is that long-haul flights are "safer" than shorter flights, as passengers tend to check larger, extended stay, bags on longer flights. There...

We need a name for a hat style

This past winter I saw many more men wearing hats on the streets of Chicago. However, for the most part they weren't fedoras. They were these outdoorsy LLBean/Orvis/Stetson Gun Club type hats. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Well, what are they? Are they fedoras? Are they...
