We think the same again, fortunately I can't wear boots. I'm always looking for advertising, signs, catalogs, whatever. These last few months I've purchased a rather odd assortment of jackets.
Nice Taubes! I like these orange label Taubers more and more. Collars are hard to find on Taubes...
Wow, was I confused! I was looking for a response I had made about this jacket! I responded in the Sears MC thread where you first posted this jacket. The thread link is posted above.
I have a very different take on this Oakbrook. My response is in that Sears History thread. I am curious...
My thanks to everyone who post jackets here. I've purchased a few from this thread. Not sure if I have thanked all the posters.
Here are 2 from this thread: one a Taubers the other a Roughwear jacket from Japan. The original poster will recognize. To you, thanks!
You all have expanded the...
My apology for my confusion! Looks like I was one who "didn't get it". I obviously red it opposite of you intention. I was just curious. I thought too, you may have seen something to give you that impression.
A straight zip Taubers police jacket just looks unique to me. I think of cross...
Why do you say that? I'm glad it is too big for me or I would be talking to them. This is the first Taubers from this era in this style I have seen. I recently bought a Taubers that I had yet to see. Too small for me, but too cool to pass.
What do you think a Taubers like this is worth?
You chose well. I was a little distracted, too late. This particular Hercules is seldom seen in. It is a unique blend of vintage CSC jackets; the pockets and cuffs. Reminds me of a favorite CSC jacket I have from 1939.
If you ever choose to part ways you will find a line of interest. It is...
thanks for posting a follow up. I had forgotten about it. I don't watch Buco jackets. I do see many out there, most with the highest asking price of any 50s MC jacket. I'm sure the size, 46, was a significant factor in the sale. Don't see many Buco jackets in this size.
This is an interesting jacket in the Sears MC history. I recall discussion of this model earlier in this thread. I haven't looked, it may be the same jacket.
Yes Oakbrook started in early 60s as a replacement for the Hercules label. Each decade is often a turning point. The label ended...
Very nice. This looks to be Roughwear Clothing jacket under their Admiral Byrd label. They dropped the patented "two way pocket" for a more modern front pocket look. The low back adjustment and bottom hem are in keeping with their 40s jackets. The seaming is more robust on this edition and...
Just realized this beauty is a Fine Creek, amazing. Japan produces the finest Cossack jackets. There are several other makes that as impressive. This is one original that has eluded me. They were an very popular style in the pre-zipper era. These jackets were made before the side gusset...
Described by the seller; "looks like it was worn once". I got to agree. Interesting this a police model. Any police jacket that has been worn will give some indication. This one does not. Not from the 40s, early mid 50s. California Chrome Tanned Steerhide was a popular hide during the 50s...
Thanks for posting. This JC Penney Sportclad is very likely wartime issue. The zipper and stop box are from that era. That is a 40s label. Has the look and wear of being 80 years old. Looks like California Sportswear make. Not a ladies jacket, small men's 38. The poor condition should be...
It looks like your Monarch in the frontal picture. Actually fooled me.
I have a strong dislike for long sleeves, at least as they fit me. These don't look overly long. Looks to me like minus the "extra" shoulder material they would fit quite nicely.
I agree, the back does lack...
