I have a fairly recent (2 month old) comp. weight Enfield and the leather seems pretty thick. Pretty heavy too, though, I haven't weighted it, it must be in the 8 pound range. The package said 9lb. so take 1lb for the box and stuffing.
I measured the thickness of leather for each sleeve...
I've used Pecard's dressing a lot, but I'm wondering if there is something better, especially for leather jackets. I like the black one which has dye for the black moto jackets, but how about dressing for browns or other colors. I understand that adding an oil product might change the color...
I just put Pecards Black dressing on a Vanson Enfield. I used the hair dryer method to make sure it absorbed. The Enfield only soaked up a bit and even after overnight drying I had to wipe the excess. It did, however, make it softer and more pliable. It also made the black color more even...
This is a shame. Vanson does make a good product if you are on a bike. You feel like you have a suit of armor when riding. However, if the customer service is not there to back the product or provide for quality assurance, repairs, etc. then the product ultimately is not good.
Based on Churchill's size guide, I was a Small. When I received the gloves, they were too small, so I had to exchange them for a Medium. The process was fairly painless, but it did take a couple of weeks. The medium fit me tight, but these should stretch with use. They are great gloves!!
I got deerskin gloves from Churchill Glove Co. and a set of Elk gloves from Fox Creek Leather. The deerskin is very soft and the elk is very grainy and thicker. I got the motorcycle ones, but they can be used for non motorbiking !!!

The Model B look like a great fit. The Dakota looks a little big, especially on the shoulders. You can always give Vanson the serial number of the brown jacket and they can tell you what kind of leather they used when they made it. You may want to do that anyway, telling them you're the new...
Slightly off topic but how does one properly store away an Irvin (or any sheepskin) jacket for the summer? These jackets are too warm for 3 seasons. Do you put them in a breathable garment bag? Obviously use wide coat hangers, etc. Any other advice? I got asked by the financial approver...
When I went to their show room, Kim didn't mention anything about other leathers that they had hidden away. I didn't know to ask either, so we focused on the black comp. I was there for a good 2+ hours looking around. I tried most of what they had in stock.
OK, that looks like an AWESOME suit of armour. Bullets will bounce off that jacket !!!
Just my curiosity, did you purchase the leather and then sent it 5star? ?? If so, the gears are turning...
Definitely, I will start with Aero and Eastman. After a bit, I'll show her the Cockpit USA one. Follow up attack with Lost Worlds, etc. Then I'll show her the 5 Star offerings. Mwahahaha...
