Thick, heavy brown suede trucker jacket, size 42

My position is pretty simple: the seller asked a question. The potential buyer and the previous owner was perfectly entitled to respond, “No sir, that doesn't work for me,” or even make a counteroffer. That's how a negotiation works.
What I don't understand is why it had to turn confrontational.
How does turning a straightforward disagreement into a public confrontation help anyone? A little courtesy and perspective would have gone a long way here. Not every disagreement needs to become an argument.
Well, that's how I look at it, but maybe I am wrong.
The last bump is the sale price. Why would I negotiate down from a higher sale price than what’s advertised? That’s just plain dumb AF.

Well, Ton312, let's revisit his actual question: “Despite the current price, would you be open to paying what I paid you to acquire it so I break even?” You could simply have responded, “No sir, that doesn't work for me. I'm willing to pay the posted price.” Couldn't you? I'm simply questioning what was accomplished by taking the more confrontational route when a straightforward, courteous response would have sufficed.
Again, that is what I would do; maybe I am wrong.......

Why would I be willing to pay more than the advertised last offered price? As a seller with far more sales than this guy this type of buffoonery is beneath me. I would never even dream of asking. I’ve donated **** for free here worth more than this jacket. Its principle. And you don’t ****ing get it.

Ton sold it to me for $200. It’s it the exact same condition now as it was then. I asked if he’d be open to paying me what I paid him originally. Seems fair to me. Even exchange. He got butthurt over $75. He couldn’t get the super bargain he wanted. He knows this jacket is worth more than the current asking price. Simple as that.

If you guys don’t like this jacket, the price, or my proposal (private, mind you) to Ton, kindly move along. I’ve been a member here for years and have bought and sold many jackets on this forum with ZERO issues. That track record speaks for itself. And I’ve never posted private messages publicly.
While I can understand you are embarrassed by your own buffoonery, the fact remains you are a scab. Maybe I should also post the numerous messages you sent me asking for advice on all the purchases you made? Would you like me to do that? It’s all recorded here in your DM’s! Know your seller people. This guy is a classic TFL CLOWN.

Yes, Ton and I have had lots of PMs in the past about lots of different jacket topics. They’ve always been pleasant, which makes his most recent behavior…odd, to say the least.

Ton’s fortunate that I haven’t posted his profanity-laced PM to me from yesterday here publicly.

Let me help you:
IMG_5353.jpeg

You spent two years peppering my inbox for advice. Seeking my help and experience. This was no even exchange of ideas. You asked for my help repeatedly, over and over again and I gave it to you. If you think I’m butthurt over $75 you just don’t get it and I can’t explain it to you.

I’ve had it with this place and it’s largely due to people like you. Self serving vampires looking to use someone else’s knowledge and experience for their own personal gain. Shame on me for obliging. Lesson learned.

If it's been pleasant in the past, why did you try to upcharge him on the sale? Odd, to say the least.

You're wrong dude. The selling price is the price.

Then it seems to me you should have started with a $200 asking price. You listed it at $150, dropped to $125 and then attempted to raise the price when the original owner showed interest. That is absurd and bad form to say the least. At this point you may as well list it on an auction site, close this ad, and get whatever you can for it.

Thanks to everyone, especially Ton, for all the interest, boosting this thread and giving the jacket extra promotion for the sale.

This is one of the worst threads I have seen in a while. You have given not one sincere word of thanks to Tony for all the obvious mentorship he has shown you over the years.

Instead, you absolutely tried to "break even" off him in an at-best questionable manner, before adding insult to injury with this perverse thanks once the item sold.

Most of all, you've contributed nothing to the Lounge except entitled garbage all the way to the very end of this thread.

It's good that Tony brought your true colors to light.

I've no idea how many Loungers have a very distasteful opinion of you now, but I'm sure it's more than a few.

I agree, one of the worst threads I've seen in months. The whole situation reads like a Seinfeld episode with the OP being the Fedora Lounge embodiment of George Costanza.

The truth of the matter is, we all lose money on this hobby. I'm glad when I get to break even on a sale. I would never trade the people I get to connect with here or elsewhere for a few bucks.

I’m not thanking someone who throws profanity and insults at me. Completely unnecessary when he could have simply declined and moved on without throwing a tantrum. Shows Ton’s true colors. If you admire that kind of behavior, good for you.

As stated earlier, I’ve bought and sold lots of jackets here over the years with no problems. The track record speaks for itself. Past buyers have been pleased. I’m sure the new owner of this jacket will also be pleased.

Whether anyone else likes this thread or not, I couldn’t care less. Carry on.

Tough way to make $125. And all it cost you was your character credibility. Well done! While the dm from @ton312 was certainly harsh, seeing all the time he put into responding to your numerous and seemingly non stop barrage of inquiries…I can certainly understand it.

You don't seem to understand that for many of us the culture of the Lounge is important. You treat it mostly as a marketplace with occasional substantive contributions.

You never even tried to explain why you consider it ethical to ask him to pay more than anyone else. At least THAT would have been a contribution, giving us something to think about.

Instead, it's all about you, even now. "I've bought and sold lots of jackets. That should speak for itself."

If that's the record you're holding up, all it says is you don't know what it means to add real value.

And that's the difference between you and Tony.

The difference is I don’t post PMs publicly, call another member a “scab “ “***hole” and tell him to “go ****” themselves.” What a great contribution to the culture of this forum! There’s no call for that kind of crassness, whether you like the question I posed to him or not.

Again, he could’ve just declined and moved on instead of airing his complaint in the forum. I stated earlier in this thread that I asked if he’d pay me what I paid him.

In the end, the jacket’s sold, and another member will be happy wearing it. End of story.

There's no call for your kind of behavior, stating one price and trying to hike the price up after the fact, solely because he happened to sell the item to you 2 years ago. He called you out for what you are, so in the end the community is better aware of the kind of person/seller you are. End of story.

What part of “he could have simply declined” don't you get? He could’ve taken the high road and moved on instead of hurling insults and profanity.

The criticism here has gotten old. It’s just noise at this point.

It seems you don't get the valid criticism against you, dismissing as noise.
