Why would this happen? Resistol stamped over a store label. I can’t imagine a situation in which that would be the order of operations.

The keyhole tag is a little confounding, but I very seriously doubt that's a 40's hat. For one thing, it's got a plastic liner tip. That should be pretty definitive that it's 50's at the earliest.

I believe my Junior Cowboy is mid-late 40's, the ad copy I have is earlier, but the quality of the leather makes me think it's later in the decade when comparing to the 30's Nutria I have. Anyway, same deal, 2" sweatband, light colored reed. No plastic liner tip.

Exactly what I was going to say. The keyhole tag without the full integer was definitely in use through the mid/late 50s and with the plastic liner tip (if it's original) that's where I would place this hat in terms of age.

I know that folks here seem to have a lot of love for the No 1 quality hats but I also feel like I read that it was sorta the lowest quality hat stetson sold. Which in the 20s/30s was a great hat but maybe by the mid/late 50s was not so great?

I just scored this vintage Stetson from the 1960’s I believe. I think it may be a “Western Gentleman” but was hoping some other more knowledgeable soul, can shed some additional insight to it.

Kind of hard to determine much without being given some dimensions. If not, how did you determine a RE brim has not been trimmed, even .125”? Can’t tell from a pic. You better start looking thru catalogs. I’ve never heard of a Stetson “Country Gentleman”.
