What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

The third (and last) leather jacket I have on the truck is the Presidential G-1: an L.W. Foster 2134 from around 1958. They call it "Presidential" since it's the kind that JFK wore.

This is a hell of a jacket and gets the most wear by far. I am in love with the G-1 in general (this is my fifth vintage G-1) since it does everything for a trucker that it does for a pilot: virtually uninhibited range of motion, light-weight yet warm with excellent wind- and water-repellance. Great pockets. This one has perfect knits and a thin but substantial goat leather that is rich with character.

I am enjoying the jacket parade. I hope my schedule allows me to continue following.

Cheers.

update on my Schott SP611 Born to Ride after a week or so

finding the steerhide increasingly comfortable to wear and conforming nicely

loving the very short 23.5 inch length of the medium size

the lack of true liner (similar to the Vandals jacket) definitely allows a sizing down and the lack of underarm footballs do not inhibit riding with it even sized down

love this jacket best of all my Schotts

After years of looking I finally got a good deal on a Real McCoy's J22. I'd only handled a J24 in person and the new fit felt far too boxy in my size wheres the old likely too restrictive, so I was hoping the J22 would be the goldilocks of the bunch since I had read and the measurements indicated it was a bit of an in-between.

Was not ready for how beautiful this was in person! Nice and softened compared to the in-store J24's I'd encountered with some teacore poking through and extremely easy to wear with a more cropped and boxy fit that suited this American torso.

TBD about how much the wool lining affects the warmth vs. the quilted cotton but I do think I like that it makes the jacket feel a bit thinner in its drape, and the lining is just damn cool.

Only possible quibble I have is one that I seemingly have with all cross zips which is for whatever reason if they fit right they never have much of a gap/they have more overlap than I would like of the front flaps when left unzipped. IDK if it's just my build (I'm not scrawny but I'm not Michael Phelps either) or if people are just going much smaller to get a shrunken look. Alas, that's just the most minor of imperfections with the fit.

Now all that's left is finding a mouton collar. I am leaning purple....

Really snazzy looking jacket - love the mouton (?) collar - it adds a luxury vibe that permits a dress up/down option that your images convey. Thanks for posting.

Thank you. Yes, it´s definitely a looker!

I like the colour-combo as well. It´s not a 1:1 repro, as the military approved G-1 is a chocolate brown hide with a brown mouton that is also of smaller dimensions, but this one works very well the way it is, IMO.
