Trying to figure out what to wear for Felt Hat day tonight...

View attachment 810303

If I had to pick from the outfits as posted I'd go with #1.

However, of the items pictured I would wear the white hat with suit #2, or the black hat with suit #1. But you've got to have a deep bench by now, for the first suit I'd look for something in light to mid grey, or a nice deep copper brown. For suit #3 I'd look for something in the earth tone spectrum, a light tan or any shade of brown, or green.

Also a homburg would be an excellent choice as fedoras can look good with either suits or more casual tailored clothing, but homburgs look best with suits (not saying you have to wear a homburg if you're wearing a suit, saying if you're wearing a homburg a suit is the best choice).

A friend of mine has been taking their sweet time putting my new ribbon on my PHD Panama and Ihaven't gotten to wear it all season - I'm taking this opportunity to try to make them feel bad lol

i started with a couple hats I want to wear and I’m working my way backwards. My first impulse is also light hat - light suit - but I end up looking like Colonel Sanders - I feel like I get better mileage with an opposing color hat or whatever. We shall see A my wife will be home in a bit and she will be happy to correct my many transgressions

Oh, and I’m kinda waiting on cooler weather to pull out the homburgs - feels like more of a winter thing to me lol - this is just for fun - I’ll be back wearing straws for a while yet

Slipping in under the wire, and because weather allows me to don this Stetson Milan with my grandfather’s pug today. I never met him, but was lucky enough to stumble across a closet full of his clothes, including this puggary in the late summer of ‘69. He had passed away in 1952.

I think this one comes from the late ’40s or early ’50s.

The liner reads “Národní podnik”—national enterprise—and the faint sweatband stamp appears to say “Formerly Hückel.” That puts it in the postwar chapter of a much older company. Hückel’s roots in Nový Jičín, formerly Neutitschein, go back to 1799. The firm became J. Hückel’s Söhne in 1869, and its operation was absorbed into TONAK following nationalization after WWII.

This one was imported by Maurice L. Rothschild of Chicago. Deep blue velour, matching ribbon, wind cord, and a cream liner with that elaborate little resizer ribbon and bow at the back of the sweatband. Lots of cool stuff going on.

This is a very, very cool hat. Pictures don't do it justice. This may be some of the finest, softest felt I have experenced. You can effortlessly shape it (and unshape it lol) with one finger. I love this thing.

A TONAK “Zephyr Seal Velour” in deep navy, from Dr. Max.
