Morning dog-stroll today was conducted under an early-50s Resistol Regent.

My brand new "Indi" style Fedora from Bates Hatters, England, actually made in England too. I paid £150 for this on 6th April 2026 in a "clearance" sale, which is still running and I am v happy. 4 1/2 inch crown 5 inch at sides, brim is 2 3/4 inch. Fur Felt. FYI all Bates hats run a little tight on size, I am a 62.5 cm head but this 63cm is snug, but is new. Felt has a good nap to it, feels stiff but, as noted, is new

Dog-walk this morning took place under my 1943 Stetson Slant.

This might seem heretical to some, but I have decided that, honoring the past not withstanding, I will no longer be wearing this in its original "slant" styling. To me, the whole explanation/sales hype for the design was just
really bad marketing buffoonery. I see it as the fedora equivalent of pre-torn jeans, another styling gimmick I've been wincing at for 50+ years.

But the color is magnificent, and the hat itself is quite a beauty, worn "properly."

Camel?
Super sweet one, Jack.
I sometimes wonder if these short lived colors had anything to do with Stetson’s 100th anniversary in 1965, or to do with their licensing out manufacturing rights by 1968. We don’t know much about the 100th anniversary other than they printed up a bunch of boxes which they could have used for a couple of yrs. Did they offer new colors in celebration also?

I have another 1960’s OR 3X which came to me virtually NOS in an Anniversary box. It is a color I would describe as charcoal blue. Never seen another.

Anyone have a 1965 Stetson catalog or other 100th Anniversary ephemera?
