Any recommendations for Montreal?

My wife and daughter and I are going to Montreal for the first time for five days over Christmas. We are aware of how cold it’s going to be!
Not sure how much time I’ll have on my own, but would be happy for any recommendations under the rough categories of boots, leather jackets, motorcycle stuff. Or restaurants!

We went during the summer, so no real help on the clothing, but I think N1's would be good, with some Baffin boots - and you should be okay.

I recall really enjoying Melk Cafe for early morning coffee/pastries, Brutopia had a great beer selection (not sure if you have kits, but they don't allow children (was great for me)), and walking down by the water was great, we stumbled into an Indian restaurant, Restaurant Veranda, which turned out to be quite tasty.

I know they have the underground mall, which we checked out, but it's all about being below ground during the winter, so I'm sure that will be fun to check out, during prime time.

Thanks for the recs.

Should say, when I mean, suggestions for boots or leather jacket I mean shops to go look at.

It really depends on how cold and how much snow there will be during that week, but we already have a lot of snow early on this year.

I would say, always have a good pair of snow boots (and water proof). You will be miserable if your feet are wet and cold. Have a good parka, it's fine with a leather jacket with shearling lining. For reference, I wear a Thedi peacoat with a shearling liner, and with a good wool sweater, I can stay outside up to two hours. A pair of good mitts and a wool beanie (or something to cover your head and keep your ears warm). Throw in a good pair of wool long johns too.

It all depends on how long you plan to stay outside. If you plan on having limousine door to door, then nothing apply. I'd say, prepare for something like -10C to -15C.

Montreal is getting warmer these days. Thirty years ago, -25C or -30C, with strong wind, were very common.
