It was a CMPD kind of day today.

Today I wore a roughly 50 year old Vanson Model A / White Label originally made in three colors of leather and each are shades of brown. (incl seal). Surprisingly good condition. Heavy but easy to throw on and go. I live in cold country so I bought an electric vest to wear beneath it. At the time it was made there was no provision for a snap in quilted liner, boa, or similar.

Interesting to think that this would have been a spendy jacket when new and as such the original owner likely wasn't a spring chicken and likely may not be a chicken at all anymore.

When I'm gone this jacket will still look great and some lucky goofball will have no concept of what a story the jacket could tell.

Got one of the cheap Mil-Tec N1 deck jackets last year and liked it so much I got another this year in Navy. I am in the process of waxing it with Barbour thornproof dressing in an attempt to make it a bit water resistant, as my one complaint with these is the not-really-Bedford-cord fabric absorbs water like a sponge.

This Lesco cross zip arrived today and I'm giving it a try.

I don't know whether or not the fit is good, but it seems pretty darn okay to me.
The jacket feels snug and hugging but not at all tight or restrictive, I was a bit worried about the heft on initial impressions but it seems to wear much lighter than it is.

This is my first experience with a cross zip and while I wasn't sure if the style really suits me or not, the jacket just feels right.
Is this why cross zips are so popular ?

With wind/temps, I would have worn my recently acquired UK Jerkin over fleece jacket, but it's at tailor's for installation of a neck-mounted "hang loop".

Facing the fact that these "Mark II Cobra" Vansons just do not make good "off the bike" jackets. At least if you do not want to go around with a gaping gap between your trousers and the bottom of the jacket. This is a Size 46 BTW.

Too bad, as it fits great in the rear:

It's going to be up for sale soon, if anyone wants a really unique Vanson.
