Most of you know this already but three years ago I got COVID and have been battling so called "long-COVID" ever since. I have recovered quite a bit (especially this year) and today I started a part-time job.

It's not a driving job and it pays garbage but it's fun and it's super low risk and the bosses are flexible with my hours (helpful in case I get overwhelmed by long-COVID).

We provide pizza to the military base (actually, we service NASA employees, but it's on the base). I grew up on military bases, so this is just like home to me.

Unfortunatly it's not a situation where I can wear a full-brimmed hat so I went with the Stetson silk cap for this first day and everyone loved it. I also carried this unbranded full brimmed vintage cloth hat in the car in case I need it for rain or if I have to do some chores outside under the sun. I can leave this in the car and not have to worry about leather sweatbands being damaged by the heat.

So yeah, I am now officially gainfully employed part time. Woohoo!

One step back for vintage hats, but one step closer to getting back in the semi...

The strong sunlight makes this bespoke hat by Gamble & ***n look white. It's actually a cream colour. Check out the retail store and their amazing collection of vintage hats. https://gambleandgunn.com/retail-store-and-showroom/

The shirt, as most of you know, is a creation of my talented wife, Tina. The lady hasn't been doing much sewing of late, her recovery from surgery has been her main priority, but she's itching to resume her sewing, and I have seen the fabric that's in the pipeline for a very enviable shirt.

This is the actual colour of today's hat, G&G call it: "Shirwell."

Was just looking at that one today. Perhaps my next "new" hat purchase. Well done.

Yesterday evening I visited with the neighbors in a Stetson Premiere.

Deck time in a different Stetson. This Stetson Select was appropriately airy.

Still looking sharp! Best of luck in the continued recovery. We'll still get to see the great hats in your off-hours, right?

Congrats on the new job, Nathan.

Wishing you a full recovery, my friend. Long term Covid symptoms are a real pita!

Keep on moving forward Nathan!

Congrats Nathan! Wishing you a speedy recovery and to getting back to that high-paying gig.

Cool hats BTW.

Glad to hear it, Nathan. May you continue to trend upwards.

Congratulations Nathan.

Great to hear that your health is improving — congrats on the new job!

Thank you gentlemen. I was concerned how I would feel today but I woke up quite fresh, so hopefully I will be able to work at least 3 straight days next week.

I appreciate the community here... this little thread has seen me through some challenging days.

Here is my hat today: RDOR.

Best wishes on the job..... After my stroke a few yrs back, I came to the conclusion that for me work is over-rated..... I chose the early retirement route when that time came. Had to replace work with the morning gym/ coffee/ pipe/ errands routine. No sleeping late and lounging around for me. Just like a faithful dogs, we humans function better if we have a meaningful job to keep us engaged.
