What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

what if you scanned a nice straw for the pattern and applied that to some artwork.... An actual hat weave would be cool... particularly if was the actual hat in a pic
Finer weaves don’t work as well as the bigger, bolder weave does. Here’s a couple of my favs of Blare’s Santana from up thread:

And here’s a finer weave of mine followed by the original;

O. F. Hess "Praga", possibly late 1930s. This Soft Felt was made by Karel Misík Husinec / Hussinetz, Czechoslovakia (South Bohemia and under the Austrian Hungarian Empire up to WWI) . Karel Misik acquired the O. F. Hess Karlin / Karolinenthal, Cadastral Area of Prague, Czechoslovakia (Bohemia and under the Austria Hungarian Empire up to WWI) from his uncle / founder Andrew Felix Hess in 1927. This Soft Felt is from my 2015 NOS Czech find.

Now we're talking! What a fabulous hat, Steve. Side dents just right for that hat.

The Edgewood for me. Magnificent! I’ve always liked the Penumbra a lot, though it looks like the top front of the crown has seen better days. The Barbisio rounds out the top three……hang on. Maybe the Dalton.
No felts for me of late as we’re around 35-36°C every day. Rain overnight means today will be a cool 32…and humid. Really humid.

Most of you know this already but three years ago I got COVID and have been battling so called "long-COVID" ever since. I have recovered quite a bit (especially this year) and today I started a part-time job.

It's not a driving job and it pays garbage but it's fun and it's super low risk and the bosses are flexible with my hours (helpful in case I get overwhelmed by long-COVID).

We provide pizza to the military base (actually, we service NASA employees, but it's on the base). I grew up on military bases, so this is just like home to me.

Unfortunatly it's not a situation where I can wear a full-brimmed hat so I went with the Stetson silk cap for this first day and everyone loved it. I also carried this unbranded full brimmed vintage cloth hat in the car in case I need it for rain or if I have to do some chores outside under the sun. I can leave this in the car and not have to worry about leather sweatbands being damaged by the heat.

So yeah, I am now officially gainfully employed part time. Woohoo!

One step back for vintage hats, but one step closer to getting back in the semi...

Still looking sharp! Best of luck in the continued recovery. We'll still get to see the great hats in your off-hours, right?

Congrats on the new job, Nathan.

Wishing you a full recovery, my friend. Long term Covid symptoms are a real pita!
