Gents, seeking your feedback on a crazy idea and a recommendation as to who might execute it.

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a new pair of Chelsea boots from Benzein for a while - something a bit chunky and casual, with a thicker sole and dogger/woodsman heel. The cost and wait time put me off, since this might just be a weird idea that will end up back here in the classified section before too long.

However, I do have several pairs of RM Williams dress boots that don’t get a lot of wear because of the thin sole and low heel.

What do you think about the idea of getting these resoled into something more like the below?

To this sort of sole and heel:

Any suggestions on a good cobbler to discuss this idea with? A couple years ago I bookmarked a newish outfit just starting out who would be ideal, but long since list the link to their Insta page.
Does it have to be in the US? My cobbler in Adelaide does this sort of upgrades and he’s incredible, good prices too. Check his FB account:

I usually wear winklepickers. It's what suits me the most and what i like the most aesthetically. Not many Men do it anymore, it was more common in the 70s and 80s, which is a shame. I usually wear skinny trousers/jeans or at least very slim fit trousers/jeans, they always go well with it. But you have to be a certain type for that i guess. View attachment 692815

These are from UK brand Underground, i really like them, they last very long and are high quality.

I also wear Martens from the default model to model "Jadon" : View attachment 692816

And something i wear pretty often are cuban heel Winklepickers:

If it comes to my winklepickers i have my models in leather and black suede to give them a velvet look.

It's save to say that i really don't care about conformity and what some mens fashion blog think is trendy or look good, i wear what i like. I don't cuff my pants for example, this seems to be very modern, but i don't care for that, never did.

Underground make a decent quality shoe for what they are. I had a pair of their 'Beatle Boot' winkle pickers in black suede for years. Not streetwear for me, but they were perfect for RiffRaff boots when I was a regular Rocky Horror shadowcaster in that role. Only mistake I made was buying my regular size - they were always too tight for socks, then when I put weight on they became painfully tight. Last worn at a friend's 40th in 2014 (eighties theme; I went as eighties-goth era Dave Vanian).

I really like the style!

But my toes are getting cramped by just looking at this non-anatomical form o_O
I hope this last leaves a lot of room in the front?

Enough if you go one size up, or have unusually slim feet.

The toe looks too rounded to be a Ctaftsman.

I’m shipping one of my my pairs to Unsung this week, to build an RM Frankenstein.

That´s what I thought too; but for the Gardener it looks too refined. Maybe the angle (and lightning). Very attractive...!

Agreed. Probably a Tambo or Macquarie.

My old Gardeners are in a sad state and not worth resoling, so I sent of a pair of Craftsman. Wasn’t prepared to risk anything to the Lachlans and I have a suede pair of Craftsmaen that I don’t know what to do with

Well done! An RMW on steroids! Is that the Craftsman? Also, which leather is that? Looks spectacular!

Those aren’t mine but he’s done similar work for me in RM’s, Red Wings and others. His work is top notch.
Here’s other crazy stuff he did recently (not mine):
