Had another one waiting for me on the porch when I got home last night. An Open Road with Embroidered Liner

Very nice! Quite possibly a local hat. I'd keep the liner covering myself.

Good find. The onionskin covering of the crown patch is supposed to be yellow in colour (at least we think so, since we've never seen a transparant one of the same material). We don't even know if these were just for protection of the liner while the hat was in the store or that they were supposed to be permanent. They do become brittle and are prone to tear and break over time. You could take it out now; it's your hat after all. I tend to leave them in if they're not torn.Had another one waiting for me on the porch when I got home last night. An Open Road with Embroidered Liner I’ve been looking for. Working on it with Coffee this morning before going outside for a Brake Job on the Wife’s car.
Had some spots on it and the sweat is a little fragile, but got it for the liner. I think I have most of the spots out and steamed it back to open crown.
The onion skin liner cover is very yellow and I hate taking away from the fabulous embroidery. Are there any concerns with removing the onion skin ?

I wouldn't doubt that the felt shrunk. It is a pretty bad feltCould be. Another reason could be that the felt has shrunk somewhat, which also causes sweatbands to wave.

Wow, thanks Bob ! I haven’t been able to find any info yet on Barth’s, you’re awesome ! Where was it located ?
Funny you mentioned St. Joseph. I have got many vintage hats coming from that area. Tons of Estate sales. This one is in Springfield, Missouri. Seems like there might have been one in Columbia or St. Joseph as well.
LolAt least you can wear the matchstick without fear of a lawsuit.
Love, love, love that Resistol Pace-Setter!

Congratulations! That is beautiful, and a hat that I lust after! It is even my size! You cleaned it up nice, and now you have a very desirable hat. I am very happy for you!Picked up the Nutria Quality yesterday and pulled it out of the freezer this morning.
The hat is in excellent condition. The white build up on the sweat cleaned right off with a rag and a bit of leather conditioner.
3” bound brim 6” open crown with a 3 ply ribbon
Steamed, brushed, re-bashed and I’m a happy camper

Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Beautiful! Thanks for the research, I love that stuff !
Well I went ahead and removed the onion skin, it was very brittle and starting to tear anyway. Got it all cleaned up and a simple bash for now. I think I’ll keep the brim flat on this one and maybe even try a pencil curl, since I wear my 7XCB with the brim turned down.
It’s a size big for me, but I just pit some felt under the sweat and it’s perfect.

Really Nice mod!!!! I agree.....Looks a LOT better!!!!!!It's not exactly new, because I've modified the hat since I originally posted it. Bought it for $75 from my neighbor.
The original thin leather hatband just wasn't right for my personal taste.
Here's my converted Stetson Roadster with a 1 inch ribbon hat band.
I really like the look of this hat now.
