While waiting for the doctor earlier today.
Alexander Dumas came to mind.

There is neither happiness nor unhappiness in this world;
there is only the comparison of one state with another.
Only one who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling bliss.
It is necessary to have wished for death in order to know how
good it is to live.....the sum of all human wisdom will be contained
in these two words: Wait and Hope ~ The Count of Monte Cristo.

Dumas may or might not be the actual scribe of The Count of Monte Cristo but he undoubtedly was a Chicago Cubs fan. Go Cubbies!:D

You’re thinking of another “Dumass".:D

Not only did he write the book, he was a N.Y.Yankee
fan for life.
He actually thought the cubbies were a bunch of weenies! :p

This season the team's been upgraded to Vienna Beef Franks.:D
And no playing ketchup with the Central Division wildcard, just mustard and lots of relish.:p

"Vienna Beef Franks taste best over an open camp fire, fava beans and a nice chianti.”:p

That’s what my doctor told me yesterday when I went for my daily physical.
I’m happy to report today that I’m fine & nothing is missing.

Chuck Berry will turn 90 next month!

I met him in a restaurant in NYC in the early '90s - someone at my table knew someone at his and we were all introduced. He did not look young then. He had on a powder blue "cowboy" suit, bolo tie and two quite attractive and young blondes with him - one on each side.

He said hello to us, shook our hands and wasn't rude, but I am sure he was happy when we moved on from his table. I never bother famous people when I see them, but this was a couldn't avoid situation as there was a legitimate common bond between the two tables, so it was what it was - a quick meeting and move on.

Actually, Way-Out Willie and Rockin' Millie were two characters from the 1958 Johnny Otis classic, "Willie and the Hand Jive." They never existed but for a generation they embodied rebellious, totally hip youth.
