You Realise Christmas Is Approaching When …

I realize Christmas is approaching when I see the Halloween candy in the stores.
For me it's this and the temporary "Halloween costume" stores that suddenly appear around the beginning of October in small strip-mall shops that have been vacant for months.

On a side note, when did that yellow "caution" tape become the new Halloween decoration trend? Did I miss the memo? In previous years I've seen it here and there at places like the organized/sponsored "haunted" houses and occasionally in/near the temporary Halloween section at local stores, but this year it seems to be almost everywhere and particularly evident on properties where the six-foot-tall inflatable ghost in the front yard is far too cutesy to be wary of. o_O

Last week, a staff meeting held inside a conference room tucked away on another floor included
Christmas wreath décor that apparently became forgotten and remained hung.
Not even Halloween yet, but we left it alone.

Just tune in to ESPN 1000*AM instead. I love Cubs radio baseball broadcast over 67*AM here in Chicago,
and have caught most of the Astros-Red Sox on ESPN; though the play call has been disappointing.

Bah. 67 has never been the same since they quit doing "Afternoon Affair". :D

No Christmas markets in Vienna this year. No frantic dash to buy mountains of Christmas presents either. For that last part, I am grateful. We did buy the last small advent wreath that they had at the grocery store last week. On Sunday we lit the first candle. It is starting to look like the pandemic will force us to have a simpler, quieter, more introspective Christmas this year. Not entirely a bad thing.

Oh! And the forecast is predicting snow on Thursday. :)

Just switch to Radio Swiss Jazz on the net. ;)
My needs in terms of morning radio music (it is my alarm) is it needs to be suitably annoying to push me out of bed. Jazz would be too enjoyable and noon might still find me abed. A pop/rock station is the best......annoying just enough to provide the impetus....but not headache inducing.....unless it is Celine Dion or the Beatles
