For sale is a rare Willis & Geiger model M-422a in the exceptionally rare size 48.The jacket was rebuilt by Steve S, a member of the vintageleatherjackets site and well known flight jacket technician. Steve replaced the lining, collar with period-correct mouton and restitched some areas to ensure longevity. The collar is very comfortable, very plush. This W&G USN contract was 290A, which ran from Mar 1942 until Oct 1943, suggesting strongly that this jacket probably was involved in wartime action. There are 2 ghost patches (left front and back) where stitching is visible but not readily noticeable, and which further suggest this is a veteran jacket. The leatheer is in good, supple condition, heavily grained, and its weight on the light side.
The jacket is in overal good/great condition and is certainly wearable. Sleeve knits are in good contition, the waist knit, in original rib-rack, has some snags which may easily be darned closed. The zipper is YKK, suggesting the zipper was replaced sometime in the 1950s or 60s, when YKK began replacing Talon's market dominance. Front pockets show gorgeous WWII scalloping. Price is a realistic and reasonable $650 plus shipping (why buy a repro when you can own an original veteran?) Jacket measures:
armpit to pit: 25"
sleeves from top of shoulder to end of knit cuff: 25 3/4
zipper/front length: 22.5
shoulders across back: 19 3/4
