This is absolutely wonderful! Likely from the late 1960s or early 1970s this is an utterly British jacket that dates from the time when British businessmen still wore three-piece suits and bowler hats to work, carried umbrellas, and lamented the decline of the Empire.
As you'd expect from DAKS this was impeccably tailored for Simpson's of Piccadilly, one of the great traditional menswear stores. Cut from a heavier mid-weight wool, this is a staid very dark blue (almost black) blazer with a traditional British silhouette--a three button front with darting for shape.
Intended as a more informal jacket, this has three patch pockets on the front and a single center vent. It also has the classic British "sporting" single button cuff. All of the buttons are silver-coloured, and all original to the jacket.
Although there is no label attesting to this, this jacket was clearly tailored in England.
It could use a dry-clean to freshen it up (it is slightly dusty from storage, especially on the shoulders) and has a tiny rub on the edge of one cuff, as shown. This is thus in Very Good/Excellent condition.
Brush off your E-type, furl your Brigg, don this jacket, and you'll be ready to converse with George Smiley at the Athenaeum!
Asking just $45, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA!
