That certainly depends greatly on individual sensitivity to heat. A normal leather jacket is too cold for me. And if I wear enough underneath to keep warm, a shearling jacket looks slim in comparisonIMHO, any simple "uninsulated" jacket, such as an A-2 or a G-1 can be comfortably worn well into cold temps, so long as sizing allows even a thin fleece "layering" garment to be worn inside the jacket.
