Whites Original Packer review

Whites original packer-

Sizing-
I’m a 9.5, with and a bit of a narrow foot, and had to go down 1 full size to 8.5 for these.

Just got them a few weeks ago, and the fit is great except for a little heel slip on the left foot. In retrospect I might have gone down a width, but it'll probably get better as they break in.

QC-
The finishing is some of the best I’ve seen on a PNW brand, really clean stitching, perfect leather, great edges.

Leather-
The red dog is beautiful, smooth, stiff and substantive, but with a firm finish that wear to reveal a lighter core.

Last-
The design on these is also really cool. It’s the 690 last, exclusive to whites, and only used on these and the mule packer from the hawthorn line.

The 690 features a high arch (as compared to their medium high on the 4811, and medium on their 55) and it is as much arch support as I could possibly want, indeed maybe a little too much.

Design-
With all that arch support comes a high, cowboy heel. I’ve never had a high arched boot before, or a pair of cowboy boots, and I was a little worried I’d think the heels would look feminine to my eye. But seeing them in person and they are absolutely gorgeous, eloquent, yet tough. Absolutely love em. And they have ample toe room as well, providing more of an ergonomic shape, but with a slight taper. The end result is a more comfortable fit, yet still a classic silhouette.

Comfort-
They are also the stiffest pair of boots I’ve had and the support is second to none. Been wearing for a bout 3 weeks and they are still quite stiff, but finally starting break in. Still working out one last hotspot, but apart from that and these would be my most comfortable pair of boots.

May as well ad this in, nice pair of brand new ones here in this thread.

This model is in my view the single most difficult PNW (Whites or Nicks) boots to acclimate to. It's a Very high arch, with a well shaped but more cowboy style heel as well. The arch support nearly feels like a "block" under your mid-section of your foot.

Of all the other styles & lasts of Whites and Nicks I have tried have a different, slightly lower arch, and some, such as the Nicks Falcon have a quite minimal arch.

The pair of Packers I reviewed on the thread I linked is actually my third attempt. This pair is wearable for me, but even as well broken in as these are they still a bit much at times. I hope @Davidchee5 your new pair works for you!

Thanks for sharing, those are gorgeously broken in. It is definitely a lot of arch support, and does get a little uncomfortable after Ive worn them for a while, but only on my left foot. Not sure if they had minor differences in placement of the arch support, or more likely, my feet are just slightly different. Either way, its improved a fair bit in the short time Ive had them, so Im hopeful they keep getting better.
