Bacon is what I need now, laid down on Beefsteak Rye. Have some tin Polish Ham, will pan fry,
then grill ham & cheese with said rye. No soup or chowder. Hit CVS tomorrow. My own fault for not
planning ahead and nailing a weekend menu down.:(

Panera's potato soup is indeed top tier.
Tonight it is baked spaghetti and side salad.....

Stealing a menu item from a vegan food truck in Brookings OR. Grilled portobello mushroom, spring mix lettuce, roasted red pepper, melted cheddar with a basil mayo on a Chiabatta bun. We use real cheese and mayo cuz it tastes better so not vegan but I am OK with that. I am challenged to resist putting bacon on it.
Do it, put the Bacon on it. You will never regret doing so.

Prior to pandemonium one of my favorite local Irish pubs could always be trusted to deliver a fantastic
"pile on the pig me sandwich lad," BLT. Absolutely "the best laid pig" this side of Lake Michigan,
but ever since the Vid hit things have changed inside Fox's Pub kitchen. A bit stingy now with the
underbelly, and the royal king of BLT is a pork pulled sand, the bacon is gone.:eek: A few measely strips,
though the regular chops served are still center cut thick bastards. o_O

We recently had Devonshire Sandwiches which are apparently an old time recipe from Pittsburgh. Sort of like a glorified Welsh Rarebit (another favorite)--beer, cheese and bacon over toast? Count me in.

We have a Persian grocery store in my town and they just added a grill with takeout foods. Immigrants from Iran in this neck of the woods always lead with the fact they are Persian not Iranian. Bought a bunch of dishes that I was not sure what they were made from but they were very inexpensive. Service was a gong show as the young woman did not speak English very well and no one seemed in charge. I worked hard at not getting tense and kept telling myself if I was in a market in Iran it would probably be like this so relax and enjoy the experience. Bought $40 worth of food, am stuffed right now and we have enough left overs for tomorrow's dinner. 3 kinds of Kebabs, rice, stew w/beef, spinach and beans, flat bread, hummus and baklava for dessert. He said the Persian name was too long and complicated so just call it baklava. I suspect they will need to up their pricing if they want to stay in business.
