Last night's creation was clean-out-the-fridge stir fry (onion, carrot, mushroom, garlic, broccoli, a bit of hoisin, low sodium soy, spicy jalapeno sauce, lots of ginger) and some ground pork with steamed rice on the side. Daughter LOVED it, and has asked me to make it again next week. WOW!

(She's 4.5, and skeptical of veggies at times, so the sauce must have masked their veggieness.)
 
I use applewood smoked black pepper in my dry rub. And about 18 other ingredients. It's great on just about any type of meat.

I've never heard of hickory smoked salt. Where do you get it?

I make it. :p You can also get it in specialty shops though. I use fresh ground pepper in mine and probably the same amount of ingredients. :p My South Western Rub uses fewer ingredients though. :p
You can never have enough smoke. :p

That looks really good and it is probably going to show up on our table soon.
Did you have the green beans and new potatos cooked together? My grandmother used to make them like that, and I haven't had that in a reeeeeeeally long time. She always used those big flat kind of green beans.
They are cooked together with seasoning and a little bacon grease. Just like my granny made them.

A little early in the season.....but not really....CHILI!!

Geez! I thought about making that the other day.
My wife wouldn't eat it this early though.
So? ;)

Smoked Paprika is a great spice. I've also seen hickory salt, but I try to keep the salt down.
One that I did pick up a few weeks ago, is Himalayan pink salt.
It has a different taste to it, but not bad.

Homemade beef stew and salad.
Beef, white corn, tomatoes, carrots, onion, garlic, beef broth, bay leaves, salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Cook four hours...eat!
