Fajitas....mmmmmmm.
Tonight we had teriyaki marinated grilled salmon with rice and mixed greens. It's what the Mrs. wanted for Mothers day dinner

I wish my wife ate fish.
She doesn't like it, so nothing after we got married.
Prior to meeting her, I ate fish frequently, because I grew up with several relatives that lived in Florida.
Of course my favorite (fresh water) is catfish, fried, with plenty of hot sauce and jalapeno hush puppies.
Salt water would be red snapper or amber jack.

She is sensible. You need less mercury in your diet. :p

Even Fester can't make them light up good and bright. :p
Yeah but the new ones don't wear him down as fast. ;)
Pizza night for my wife, my dad, and I .
To which my dad said "hey you really do know how to cook."
Uh yeah, people have been telling you that since I was 10yrs old.
Apparently he liked it, he had 4 pieces. ;)

Perhaps try Tilapia as a possible fish that your Wife could try? It is a fish as you know that is not a strong "fishy" flavored dish. I normally bake it with some made-for-fish coating, sort of like shake and bake.

Went to a Mediterranean place tonight and had a gyro wrap.

Is it just me, or, do I see correctly on your posting here, you eat at places out some what more than home? I also do agree with your idea, we should have a Fedora Lounge Cook Book. It does seem almost every meal we all make mention of what we are eating, is appealing.

Where does all that mercury in the Ocean and fish, come from? I had a conversation about this a few years ago. That was in response to seeing a warning on a can of tuna that warns about the mercury content, etc. But as you know, at some points of time and history, the real reason (maybe two at most) for the mercury in the water and the fish, has not honestly ever been made public on even one single newspaper or news article to date.

Oh I was just using that to beat him up about eating fish and glowing in the dark at night. :p
All I am sure of is that certain fish were on my wife's do not eat list due to high levels of mercury. The doctor mentioned Tilapia as one of the worst when she was pregnant. At that point you just take the edict. :p

Wow, I was not at all aware of the issue of such a higher level in Tilapia!

It is such a sad thing that from a while back, the value of having fish to eat was of great nutritional value, of course before the mercury coming into the picture on it. Now it is not such of nutritional value due to the mercury.

The news media as well as any other sources of publications have not made too much public about how much industrial waste has been leaked into most of the waters of the world. Mercury is used so much in "smelting" of metals, to extract gold and silver and other precious metals from ore. Oddly smelt and fish and then smelting being connected by language makes me wonder if it was a bad omen for mankind to "smelt" anything.

But then, we can toss some even deeper yet evil in some ways about smelting in general..into words and thoughts. Plastic shoes, gym shoes, socks worn be someone for over a few weeks without washing...those things can all fall into the "smelt" side of it all. Then to make it more non evil, you can trace some thoughts to the barber shop...they use Jamaican Bay Rum there and it can be said, everyone in that joint...smelt good! lol!

Well, high in mercury depends on your perspective. The highest level mercury fish have only .5 parts per million of mercury in them. That is pretty low in my book. :p

I have three housemates who live in my house. One goes off and pretty much does his own thing, the other two, a couple with a baby, are almost like family so normally we alternate when it comes to cooking. But right now the mom is also going to school so it's been 50/50 lately between eating at home and going out. Before they moved in and I was living alone I was eating out practically every day!

My wife likes fish. Last night for her birthday we went out for sushi. Thank goodness there were other options as well. I like fish a lot, just not so much raw. Not since the great tequila-sushi disaster of 1998, anyway.

Yeah sushi is usually out for me as well. I am not a big fish person either. I never trust food coming from a place as large an unfathomable as the ocean. Lord knows what sunken toxic waste they could have swam through---or eaten. :eeek::p
