Absolutely. Hitchcock took full advantage of that fact in The Birds. It feels very uncomfortable to watch a film that doesn't use background music to build suspense, etc. It grows on you, though.

Ides Of March with Q&A with George Clooney and others after. He's a funny SOB. Seems like someone you'd want to hang with. I liked it. Good cast.

The Ghost Breakers (1940) with Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard. Mrs. H commented that Bob wasn't playing his bluff talking coward persona as heavily as later on in his career. Snappy chatter and the cliched old dark house mystery story line, but lotsa laughs.

IMHO, Bob Hope was underrated as a comic. That is one of my favorites, and I just watched it about a month ago. Love that one!!!
