What Kind of Tie is Li'l Wally Wearing?

In this YouTube video I found of the Lawrence Welk Show, Li'l Wally (a Polish-American Polka musician) is wearing a very unusual tie. Does anyone know what this kind of tie is called?

I'm not sure what they're called, but they turn up frequently at the thrift shops out here. The ones I see are generally pleated and have a hook and eye closure like a pre-tied bow tie.

Looks like what's known as a "bulldogger" tie. They were common for western wear back in the day, and are still seen mostly as western formal wear.
