What is your favorite Scotch Whisky?

In Glasgow I had a chicken breast stuffed with haggis and topped with a whisky sauce. Went back the next night and ordered it again. The chicken and haggis were good BUT the whisky sauce was heaven.[/QUOTE

Not Scotch so I might be OT a bit but you know when most people grill beer can chicken they fill the chicken cavity with sliced apples & oranges, & the beer can with apple juice. I've always wanted to try filling the cavity with sliced lemons & limes, & fill the can with Tequila. Haven't done it yet.

Perhaps a waste of good tequila and the best use is to slam the tequila whilst roasting the chicken

It's kind of a side thing, never meant to be a main drink with a meal. Islay Whisky will compliment good charcoal grilled beef to the max. Except as a marinade I would never cook with Whisky.

You get quite a few things with whisky based sauces and stuff like that over here. It's not ALL deep fried mars bars

that's quite a popular one in scottish restaurants. My grandfather used to put a dram into the haggis after it was opened. (an actual haggis)

Back in 2010 we were in Condom and wanted to visit the Armagnac museum. We were close but could not find it. Stopped an elderly French couple carrying bags of groceries homeward. He attempted to give directions, gave up and said..."follow me". So this very elderly couple that were so frail they had difficulty walking, would not allow us to carry their bags took us about a 1/2km out of their way to deliver us to the museum. Tasted some very good Armagnac but the memory of the old couple's kindness is what lingers.

I am a Glencadam, Glendronach and Glengoyne fan (as well as a Hibiki lover, though not a Scotch!). Other favorites are Dewars Signature and 25 years and Chivas 25 in the blended world...

I like Dewars, Pinch and Famous Grouse as my everyday/blended pour. My father drank Chivas Regal so occasionally I will have that for the memories. Single malt favorites are Oban, Glenfarclas, Highland Park and Laphroiag/Lagavulin. It is too early for me at the moment, but this makes up my mind what I am having at the cocktail hour!

A dimple bottle of Pinch with highball glasses and a soda siphon next to it is about as vintage as it gets, IMO.

There is also an interesting Scotch Whisky cocktail (along with Rusty Nail, Rob Roy and others) called the Penicillin:
  • 2 ounces blended scotch

  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed

  • 3/4 ounce honey-ginger syrup

  • 1/4 ounce Islay single malt scotch as a floater
