What is American Culture?

In Another Thread...

Is an illustration of American culture (really character), or something Americans are rather proud of: Compassion.

In the German POW's in America thread (WWII Forum), which I highly recommend, are links to the stories of German soldiers captured in North Africa. They eventually were housed in the American interior. The story of Lake Wabaunsee camp held my attention and ate up a good hour of my employer's time this AM. (and you miscreants took another hour this PM).

Farmers in Kansas treated the POW's well (in the main), made sure they were well-fed, clothed, and reached a level of trust and cooperation.

It didn't hurt that many of the farmers were of German extraction. But still, these boys, harmless or not, had just come from shooting at their sons.

Americans like to do that. Rise above the baser instincts and prove themselves surprisingly (and rather modestly) noble.

booooooooo hoooooooo let them get some air for a while lol , its hard to handle all this.....;)
(still no beer)

I'd be happy to deliver one, but I think it might be warm by the time I arrived. :cheers1:

Which reminds me of another fine thing America has introduced to the world: delivered food. In fact, standards of customer service generally. It's certainly an approach that would be nice to see in many establishments over here.
