Grey 1950s 3X Open Road and a Dixxon "Voorhees" flannel on this beautiful autumn day.
Hope you're well friends.

Nice. I love a good velour hat!!
A while back, I started a thread called How a Felt Hat is Made. Either in the first set of articles or the second, Stetson articles it discusses how hats are pulled out of the normal assembly line process to be turned into velour hats and they are processed differently. If you're interested, you just have to search until you run across this information. I'm thinking it might be in the Stetson articles but I'm not sure.
In either case, it's not going to be in one of the first pages, but at least several pages into it before they discuss velours.

Thanks. I will try to find it.

One of my favorite Open Roads this morning... A 3x I'm pretty sure is from 50s. Always a thrill to find a 70 some year old hat in this condition View attachment 820487 View attachment 820485 View attachment 820486 View attachment 820479 View attachment 820484

I'm pretty sure the Stetson dating thread has those square tags in the early/mid 60s. Late 50s had the keyhole with full integer like the one you just won and posted in the other thread. Still a nice looking hat though, and in such great shape!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think those 3X felts were a fantastic price/quality ratio.

Good morning hat folks. Thanks for sharing your hats. I have enjoyed the hat parade.

This morning my dog soirée was enjoyed under the brim of a Stetson Sovereign Twenty (sage felt). Lovely felt and brim treatment.

I meandered about sipping coffee wearing a Stetson Buccaneer. Very cool brim treatment. The spiral stitching is excellent.

I started some yard chores wearing a Gannon Wanderer (whiskey beaver felt). During shores the trees shed water and it beaded up on the felt.
