This is very true and brim distortion is most noticeable in Stiff Felts. Unfortunately with Stiff Felts it's more difficult (tools / knowledge) to avoid / fix brim distortion after stretching / conforming (Oval or Rounded).Wonky brims is usually caused from inserting a long oval head into a round oval hat.
If the hole is long enough inside the flange then you can use a smaller than usual stretcher to turn a round oval hat into a long oval.
Wow!! What a beauty! What a great find.
Really nice Tim!
Wow ! Bound brim AND Stitching!
Thanks gents !!Simply.Awesome. That is an absolute BEAUTY, Timmy! Congrats on such a terrific score!
Great googly moogly!!!
If any of you want to see how you would have photographed in the 19th century there’s a great app called Tin Type that a friend just told me about. Costs a dollar to download but pretty cool.

Wow!!!! Stunning hat, tremendous history! LOVE the graphics on the certificate!!Brüder Böhm "Böhms Ultima", possibly 1930s and made for the Norwegian Market. This is a really fantastic Velour with a very wide Band/Bow and tall Crown. It was made by the Brüder Böhm Neutitschein / Nový Jičín, Czechoslovak factory. I acquired this Velour from Panos back in 2021.
Victor Böhm's hat manufacturing apprentice certificate (Lehrbrief), issued in 1910 by the Vienna Hatmakers Association (die Genossenschaft der Wiener Hutmacher). Back in 2015 the grandson (Jonathan) of Victor Böhm owner and chief inventor at Brüder Böhm Wien, Neutitschein / Novy Jicin sent me the photos.
Very nice looking! Congrats!By a small margin, this mystery Forty Jobber has the best felt I’ve ever owned.
A C&K I once had came very close. View attachment 677749 View attachment 677750 View attachment 677751
Very nice!Hat of the day is my newly received Gun Club by Stetson Diamond Jim from 2001 (I believe according to the sweatband) 4x fur. Not bad for the cost, sweatband is tatty so may need replacing. The hat band with its faux buckle isn’t my cup of tea at all and will likely not make it to the end of the day on the hat. I may try and make my own out of a scarf at some point.
Thank you!He was active on IG yesterday, so he appears to still be on the right side of the grass.
YOWZA!!!! That is a LOOKER!!!!Stetson BRE from Clayton’s in Detroit. View attachment 677757
