Dobbs Americana gambler style in NU BRNZ color with long hair finish. Aside from the color it appears to be very similar to my Knox Americana which is shown for comparison. It even has the same color ribbon.

Borsalino Homburg - Midnight Blue
4 7/8 Crown as shaped - About 5 1/2 Open
2 1/4 brim to the curl - 2 3/4 to edge
1 5/8 blue grosgrain ribbon with matching binding

Had a second chance to add this dark blue (Cobalto) Borsalino homburg after forgetting to bid on its first go round and fortunately was able to bring it home. Upon arrival I was immediately taken back by how soft, delicate and light weight it was. I haven’t handled an homburg with felt this thin and light weight… almost like that of the Borsalino Featherweight fedoras. Shockingly light. I haven’t had the chance to weigh it as my postal scale crapped out but I’d imagine this is among my lightest of hats. Definitely the lightest homburg I own.

This thing was rather filthy and required very heavy brushing as well as significant tape Rolling to remove the years and years of dirt and dust. But after that and a quick steam it really came to life revealing its deep dark Cobalto felt. I couldn’t make out the name of the ribbon color on the 50s era Borsalino manufacturing tag.. but it is a very similar color blue to the felt. The ribbon still has its basting threads in place. Really glad I did not make the mistake of letting this one sail on by for a second time!

That one is a beauty Joe! Very nice acquisition.

You scored BIG TIME, Joe! That is definitely a hat that was worth pursuing. Gorgeous in every respect, and that blue is absolutely spellbinding.

Yes indeed, Joe. The fellas are right! That Borsalino is a beauty. I love the color and that brim length is well proportioned to the crown. Stingymas is over. That hat looks good on you.

That is a beautiful homburg Joe.

Thank you so much guys… I’m really happy with this addition.

Terrible hat Joe. (Sorry, I just want to be different). The color stinks - what did you say that was, cobalt? Who names a hat after a metal? 'Here's my next hat, in color "hard as a rock."'

And the way the shape really accentuates your face's natural charm and good looks is just unappealing all the way around.

Horrible! I bet it's no fun to wear at all!

;) ;) ;)

I'm joking of course - it's wonderful and I love it! And it really does look great on you and the color is amazing. Congratulations on this fine addition to your terrific collection!

Good looking Penny's Don. It suits you we'll.

Are you any good at dating Penny's? With the lack of plastic tip liner, I wonder if this is from early on after they changed the logo - very late forties or early fifties maybe? (I actually haven't done any research on dating Marathons and am not even sure when they changed the logo).

Holy cow, another hat with so little to like about it. Especially for someone like me who hates brown hats!

:D

Wonderful Joe, a terrific duet of eye shooters!
So refreshing to hear how you really feel! LOL. Important to be authentic In Nathan. :D;)

Not 100% sure but I believe this logo points to 50s.. probably more to the first half. If I remember there was a lounger who had some history with the company that had a sheet with the logos and their eras. But I’m a little hazy on it.
